This is a collection of remarkable personal accounts of a variety of American Civil War incidents, from both Union and Confederate perspectives. These vivid and absorbing reminiscences provide an inside view of many fascinating events of the time, shedding light on our shared past and illuminating the character and point of view of those who lived through an extraordinary time in our nation's history. Enjoy these excursions back through the mists of time, recounted by those who were there.
Not a book I would have purchased myself - I'm leary of stories of some civil war literature and the title didn't ring true to me. Just a gut thing. My daughter gave me this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've listened to the eye witness account of Appomattox at less a dozen times. Fascinating.
