The Toveys attempt to settle down to a quiet life in the country. Unfortunately for them, however, their tyrannical Siamese cats have other ideas. From causing an uproar on the BBC to staying out all night and claiming to have been kidnapped, Sheba and Solomon's outrageous behaviour leaves the Toveys at their wits end.
Meanwhile, Doreen has to contend with her husband's disastrous skills as a handyman, and a squirrel that chews the buttons off all his suits.
Both human and animal characters come to life here, including Sidney the problem-prone gardener and Blondin the brandy-swilling squirrel.
This witty and stylish tale will have animal-lovers giggling to the very last page.
Excellent book! A loving and hilarious book about Siamese cats!

These books are very funny and were a favourite of mine when I was younger. I was very happy when they were re-released in paper and even happier when I found them on Audible. Joy Gelardi's performance is perfect. She capture the humour, exasperation and emotions in a lovely way. These books are comfort reads and now comfort listens. I just wish you'd do more of the series!

Humor is such an individual thing, isn't it? Some people think the 3 stooges are funny. I think they're dumb. Anyway, this book was recommended to me because I like the James Herriot books. I neglected to listen to a sample first, (Gotta remember to do that!) Anyway, those who are involved in the performing arts know that timing is EVERYTHING! When you tell a joke, it's important to pause a bit here and there. Let your words sink in a bit. Not with this narrator. She reads the story like a freight train at full throttle! I really can't say if I would have found the story funny if she had read it properly. But for me, it just fell flat. Only listened for about 1/2 hour. I'm done. Next??

I read Doreen Tovey's books years ago and loved them then,so I was happy to see the audiobooks were available. This is the story of the Toveys' life with assorted animals (and friends),particularly their Siamese cats, and the madness that the cats, animals (and friends) can cause. Particularly relevant if you love cats, but I enjoyed them for the humour as a non-cat loving teenager,so wider appeal as well!
I particularly appreciated Joy Gelardi's narration, her voice fits the books perfectly.
