Publisher's summary

Comedy superstar Mike Myers writes from the (true patriot) heart about his 53-year relationship with his beloved Canada. Mike Myers is a world-renowned actor, director and writer and the man behind some of the most memorable comic characters of our time. But, as he says, "No description of me is truly complete without saying I'm a Canadian". He has often winked and nodded to Canada in his outrageously accomplished body of work, but now he turns the spotlight full-beam on his homeland.

His hilarious and heartfelt new book is part memoir, part history, and pure entertainment. It is Mike Myers' funny and thoughtful analysis of what makes Canada Canada and Canadians Canadians and what being Canadian has always meant to him. His relationship with his home and native land continues to deepen and grow, he says. In fact American friends have actually accused him of enjoying being Canadian - and he's happy to plead guilty as charged.

A true patriot who happens to be an expatriate, Myers is in a unique position to explore Canada from within and without. With this, his first book, Mike brings his love for Canada to the fore at a time when the country is once again looking ahead with hope and national pride. Canada is a wholly subjective account of Mike's Canadian experience. Mike writes, "Some might say, 'Why didn't you include this or that?' I say there are 35 million stories waiting to be told in this country, and my book is only one of them."

Thoughtful and perfect for any X-Pat from Canada

Mike seemed a little reserved and possibly a little emotional / hurt by how Canada has treated him, however he came across as completely honest and heart felt. I realized as he told his story how close his and my upbringing were and we could have easily been the same kid growing up in Canada. I miss home, but I too moved for work, career and his story is the story of many who have grown up a Canadian of the 60s and 70's ... Thanks Mr. Meyers

Very personal and relatable

What did you like best about this story?

It struck so many chords with me as a fellow Canadian who grew up in southern Ontario. It was laugh out loud funny in many spots. It was a trip through my life and experiences as a Canadian.

What about Mike Myers’s performance did you like?

Completely authentic from the heart.

Any additional comments?

We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves and that is certainly a requirement if you're a Canadian listening to this book. Mike is unabashedly, unapologetically Canadian though and that is fantastic. Rock on Mike!

Wonderful book, even if you're from down South

A love story mixed in with a brief autobiography. Perfect light reading for the beach or for the plane ride to that summer vacation. This book reminds fans that Mike is a great writer. Listeners will get the benefit of Mike's voice acting---which is even better than the screen acting. Mike does a great job selling his country. By the end of the book, even a California boy like me wanted to be a Canadian...

Didn’t know what to expect...

But I certainly didn’t know that I’d want to move north 1000 miles when I’d finished. Thx for all the insight Mike!

like to the great job with the book, intertwining his personal life with Canadian history and politics. And he's renewed an interest in me to visit Canada.

An opportunity for American self awareness

This book is not just for Canadians. It is a book for Americans too! And, it's a book for anyone who enjoys comedy and a story well told. Mike Myers tells his personal story while interweaving the complexities of the relationship between our two countries into the narrative. It's funny, entertaining and thoughtful. Mike Myer's assessment of America comes from a friendly place that leaves the listener with deserved appreciation and admiration for our friends to the north.

A sweet memoir

Myers does a nice job of telling his audience his life story while artfully putting his adventures into a Canadian context. He’s playful with his words and spins a good yarn. The book is mostly non-political but Myers has clear views on Canadian related issues (gun control and medical care). It was an interesting listen, especially if you’re a fan.
