Publisher's Summary

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update", before "Sarah Palin", Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV.

She has seen both of those dreams come true.

At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon - from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Includes special, never-before-solicited opinions on breastfeeding, princesses, Photoshop, the electoral process, and Italian rum cake!

Too jokey. Makes the more sincere parts feel muted.

I admire respect and enjoy Tina fey and her sense of humor, writing and performing. I am only giving her book a low rating in the hopes she will right another. There are many good anecdotes in this book however it always feels like they are being used as set up for another fairly insignificant joke. I was hoping for a bit more insight into her experiences.

Meh...

I wasn't overly impressed by this book. I like Tina Fey, and have enjoyed her work, but I didn't find this book to be all that funny. Some parts of it were very good, others not so much. Since it has received great reviews, I can only assume that I'm just not cool enough to "get it."

So boring I couldn't finish it

Would you try another book from Tina Fey and/or Tina Fey?

No

What was most disappointing about Tina Fey’s story?

She had a really normal life. Let's face it, most of our lives aren't really that interesting. And her storytelling isn't all that great. She needed 30 Rock writers to work on it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Tina Fey’s performances?

No, she was weak and tried too hard. Like Alec Baldwin as the Oscars host.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment. :(

Any additional comments?

I have no idea why some people found it so funny. Listen to the sample and decide.

Dissappointed

I expected this to be a great book, having been chosen as audiobook of the year. Athough it was funny at times, overall I found it to be fluffy and unimportant.

Not that funny

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book is filled with a bunch of one liners that play off of gender and racial stereotypes. Sometimes it's funny, but it wasn't enough to make my list.

I just did not enjoy it nearly as much as hoped

Any additional comments?

I got this book based on positive review by Leo Laporte. However, the book is really geared toward women. I love Tina, and 30 Rock, but this book was not for me.

A Little Too Nasty for Me

What would have made Bossypants better?

The offensive language could have been minimized and Tina could have taken a more humble approach on delicate issues. I did not appreciate her arrogant slant to some sensitive issues.

Has Bossypants turned you off from other books in this genre?

Maybe.

What three words best describe Tina Fey’s performance?

arrogant, nasty, uninformed

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The performance was good.

Not impressed

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I thought this book would be a lot funnier since Tina Fey is hilarious, but it was kind of boring. Tina Fey does a good job of narrating it, but the content is just a little boring.

Has Bossypants turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes

Not so funny for male audience

Would you try another book from Tina Fey and/or Tina Fey?

I think Tina is typically hilarious but in the book it was worth a few chuckles but not the double over laugh I usually get from her
