Publisher's Summary

A fast, gritty, durable player who could read a basketball floor as well as anyone who ever played the game, John Stockton left the NBA after 19 seasons with the Utah Jazz, holding a massive assist record, including the career mark (15,806). He also twice led the league in steals - with a career total of 3,265 - and retired as the NBA's all-time leader. And during Stockton's career, the Jazz never missed the playoffs.

Coach Frank Layden said, "Nobody thought that he was going to be this good. Nobody. But the thing was, nobody measured his heart."

John's autobiography, Assisted, pulls back the curtain on his very personal life to show fans a thoughtful recounting of the people, places, and events that have connected with John along his path of extraordinary success. This book clearly illustrates the importance of his family, his faith, and his unparalleled competitive spirit.

"The Most Boring Book I've Finished"

John Stockton is an upstanding guy. He loves his family, community, and nation. He rarely does anyone wrong and often minds his own business. He is the neighbor you wish you had, but not the neighbor you need. The neighbor you need is one who will be your friend and support you, John Stockton will not. He's far too busy making sure his shoe laces are sufficently tight and that he never imposes on anyone. If he hadn't played basketball, he'd likely never had interacted with anyone outside of his family.

This book is extremely boring. There is nothing inspiring or interesting in this book. I endured because I am a Jazz fan and used to be a fan of John Stockton. I can't say that I like John anymore. Don't meet your heros, they'll only disappoint you.

    "A must read"

Although I wasn't a giant John Stockton fan during his playing days because he and "the Mailman" defeated my Rockets so many crucial times. But I ALWAYS respected and appreciated John's talents. After reading this incredible book, I've become a tremendous fan. He is so humble and is such a great family man! It now makes me proud to have watched his entire career and the type of man he is comes though throughout the book. Congratulations John, your book is one of the best I've ever listened to.

    "More than excellent!"

Living in the Salt Lake Valley, I have been a follower of our Utah Jazz and the players for many years. John Stockton was always a favorite and I appreciate the opportunity to get to know more of his personal self. I love the way he is able to share so many of his thoughts and stories. There is so much more in this book than I thought there would be!

Thank you John Stockton for all the memories...

I recommend this book to anyone!

"Great story in John Stockton ' s own voice"

Stockton's book is a testament to his workmen like attitude. His values and straight edges are refreshing in the world of today. He also does a great impression of former Jazz coach Frank Layden.
