Beth Moore is gifted

I really loved the study. Her insight and dedication to authority have always left an impression on my heart and thoughts. She does talk a little fast. Her study is indepth.

Contemplative look at the life of David

Beth Moore explores the life of King David to a degree that I have not heard or read before, and she does it in an impossibly short period of time.

First, I have to say that Beth is her own best narrator. Her voice is so soothing, yet full of enthusiasm for the topic. I could listen to her read all day!

Her writing in this book was very clear and was always backed with Biblical research. She does make some conjectures, but she doesn't assume anything. She presents conjecture as conjecture and facts as facts. That alone makes her work stand out among Biblical biographies, but she draws you into the life of David with a pointed, yet nonjudgmental look at his life and individual actions in a way that makes you see things from so many different perspectives - God's, David's, and the people with whom he had close relationships. She manages to do this while applying lessons learned from David's life to present day decisions.

Beth never comes off as preachy or harsh. Her work is done from the standpoint of learning to come closer to God from David's wiser decisions and his mistakes while recognizing his humanity. I suppose this is what I love most about Beth Moore. She loves to teach, not preach.

I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in using the life of David to learn more about their own walk with God or to anyone who has a historical interest in the life of King David. It was well worth the investment.

Great! Beth is consistantly good

Beth has done it again. She has a nack for telling the Fathers heart in her teaching. David wasnt some great person, he was a "real" person. Yet God called him a man after His own heart. The lessons that Beth shows us are very real and heartfelt, lessons learned at her Father's feet. A good "read" and one worth doing more than once.

A Heart Like His - Wow!!!

Loved this book - it really shed a new light on the life of David for me. It also made me realize that God is full of love, grace and mercy that he lavishes on those who love him. I would suggest everyone get this if they are interested in the life of David and having a heart like his. Beth Moore did an outstanding job as she always does with making you feel as if you are right there in that period of time in the circumstances that David faced.

What's not to love?

I love listening to Beth. Studying about David always makes one feel like I'm not the only one that is imperfect and I'm still okay!

Probably need the actual book

This was difficult to follow audibly as it jumps around the story of David, through various books of the Bible. She basically provides a synopsis of his story without much study.

Whoa, Beth! Slow down!

What's the rush?? I've heard of speed reading, but never in audio form. Beth Moore is an experienced video teacher, but she is much more effective in front of an audience. She should have gotten a professional narrator to read this book instead of doing it herself. She reads it waytoofast, barely pausing to take a breath between sentences, much less thoughts, to the point where it doesn't even sink in.

I own a couple dozen audiobooks, and this is the first time I have ever had to change the settings on my ipod to "slower" so I could actually absorb what I was hearing. The pace is much better at this setting, but the cadence is slightly off, betraying the fact that this is not a professional reader. Unfortunately this also distorts the voice somewhat, sounding slightly like an echo chamber.

The content seems good, though I'm only about an hour into it and will probably need to start over so I can follow it. I am disappointed in this recording, and wish I had opted for the print version instead.
