Publisher's Summary

A lot of times, when people think about success, they immediately start to think about their goals. They look at their life and start to measure their accomplishments. I then ask these people, of their goals, how many they would say they accomplish in a year or month. In most cases, they have set goals but they have no idea of the steps or work it takes to accomplish them. I tell you, although we set goals, the outcome we desire is a specific set of results.

Let's look at the big picture: the reason why we set goals is because we would like an immediate result, so instead of focusing on the goal, let's focus on the result we want. To me, when I hear the word "goal," I mainly think of wishful thinking. I have no idea how to make this goal a reality, and I know plenty of people who work hard and don't get the result they wanted. Is it possible that, in the process of working toward that goal, they lost sight of the result intended? Or is it possible that they didn't plan the necessary steps to reach the goal/result?

Good information

Short and to the point. He says most goals are just wishes without any action or plan of action.

Odd, Pointless Listen

This is just not that great. Focusing on results instead of goals is still goal setting. For a 38 minute book, he spent 10 minutes talking about coupon clipping and self control....enough said.

Read on X1.5 speed

This book has some good advice on working towards results instead of making unachievable goals. Ultimately up to the reader to work on them self

revolutionary way for achieving desired results

this is an awesome read for anyone set out to achieve results and willing to give whatever it takes. it gives you a different approach to realizing results compared to the regular teaching of setting goals and making plans.
the narrator also did a great job. am highly and eternally thankful to Robert Greene, always making me a better person with his amazing works.

too bad

I love Robert Greene audio books because of the hours of entertaining informational content to mull around. I was disappointed with this small audio with info that a helpful uncle would give you over coffee. buy the other ones and pass on this one.

Not The Robert Greene You're Thinking Of!

The elephant in the room: this is not the Robert Greene of The 48 Laws of Power fame, as is made clear in the final chapter of this book. While this would normally not hold any import to me, the fact that the book is being recommended as part of his works from both Audible and Goodreads is quite irritating and is the entire rationale for my 3-star rating, rather than a higher rating were it by content alone.

That addressed, let me say that this book is worth the hour of your life to contemplate the exercises presented and listen to the brief thoughts on each exercise. Anyone who feels that they are not in a place reflecting their potential and is struggling both to find motivation and practical activities that would progress them to their desired life changes would be advised to read this book. There is nothing sensational hidden in these words, but the practices and thoughts are common wisdom here related in a concise and easily digestible manner.
