My indentured servitude is almost over and freedom is a heartbeat away! Until some alien guy buys me because he needs a nanny, quick. What? I’m not even good with kids. I’ve never changed a diaper in my life. But the beings at the employment agency won’t listen. “Hew-mans are hot right now. Everyone wants a hew-man nanny”. Great. And since there isn’t another human available...I’m hired on the spot. Yay, me. And on day one of my new job I’m having a panic attack because I finally meet my new boss and he looks like Satan himself.

My name is Alice, and I live in the Bugpocalypse. I survived my first post-apocalyptic winter, and spring is here. That’s bad news! With warm weather comes the endless swarms of deadly bugs. I need to forage for food, but there’s just one little problem. Okay, so “little” isn’t the best word to describe the fierce Xarc’n warrior who is obsessed with me. Kaj’k is freakin’ huge! And his sharp claws, pointy fangs, and massive horns are scary. I reject his gift of food and flowers, but my massively muscled alien hunter doesn’t get the hint.

We’d heard rumors about the Vandar raiders — everyone in the galaxy had. Terrifying and ruthless, they were a scourge on the Zagrath empire and destroyed everything in their path. Few had actually laid eyes on the Vandar or the notorious warlords who led their fleets of warships — and survived to talk about it. So, when the ruthless aliens boarded our ship intent on destroying it and killing the crew, I did the only thing I could do. I gave myself to the dark and menacing warlord.

In the far reaches of space, you have to keep your guard up to survive. But this gorgeous alien warrior is breaking down my defenses. Three years ago, alien raiders abducted me from Earth. I escaped to a remote trading planet, where I’ve scraped by and kept my identity as a human hidden...until one day, I get caught stealing from a mysterious warrior named Rok. Aliens are dangerous and untrustworthy. Or at least, that’s what I’ve always thought. But Rok is different. Despite being furious that I took something from him, he doesn’t hurt me.

I have a special power, the ability to calm a berserker, but I’ve been warned never to use it. My mother said, “If you see a berserker in a rage…not your monkeys, not your circus. Get the hell away. They’re too dangerous, and you’ll lose your freedom.” But the thing is…we’re flying 30,000 feet in the air in a speeding aluminum cage, and there’s a berserker raging out in the aisle beside me. Security won’t be able to hold him. And if he gets a taste of blood, he’s going to rampage through the entire plane, leaving a path of death and destruction, including me.

Publisher's Summary
He’s big. He’s bad. His claws are epic.
Frantic to avoid detection, Lila hides for the night in a condemned outbuilding on the edge of town. She checks each bunk for comfort and rests on the one with a strangely enticing scent and falls into an exhausted sleep.
One problem - this place isn’t abandoned. Miners actually live here. And she’s chosen Zayzon’s bed. The loudest, tallest, and most sharp-clawed out of a band of tragically messy Xylan brothers who can’t clean to save their lives. And he keeps standing much too close. And sniffing her hair. And muttering something about mating compatibility.
Whatever.
She’s just that desperate, so she offers to become their housekeeper if they’ll let her stay. The brothers accept, and Lila cleans up their freaking mess, relieved to have somewhere safe to live. Meanwhile, Zayzon keeps insisting that she continue to sleep on his bunk. And she keeps accepting! Because it’s getting harder and harder to deny her attraction for his possessive gaze, razor-sharp claws and his large...um, personality?
But Lila can’t fall for anyone, even a scary male who turns out to be cuddly. Not when demons from her past are about to return for their down payment.
Can a human save an alien miner’s life, without breaking his heart?

Suspense and romance
Love the Fever brothers. They are so alpha and so protective and possessive of their mates and Zayzon was the same with Lila. This story felt like a version between Snow White and Goldilocks. Keep them coming. I am voluntarily reviewing this Audiobook.

Great!
Oh, Claws sure had me laughing and blushing at times. I love how he doesn't mince words and knew automatically his mate was near. I thought his brothers were hilarious! I did have a hard time with Lila at times because she would sound repetitive at times during her inner dialogues. I did like their pairing and their chemistry and found myself unable to stop listening because I wanted to get to the end. The narrator did a great job of trying to convey all the different characters.

very good as always
I would recommend every book I've read or listened to by this author. She does a good job of mixing romance, comedy, and hunky aliens.

Below expectations
Audible doesn't have book 1 available so I assumed it wouldn't matter much with what I expected to be erotica. Nope, it's confusing to almost distraction because of the race class system and the maybe sorta shifter alien mates.
This book was cheap and it should be since it is so very short. The last 40 minutes wraps up the story with all the sad sex and none of it was well written. Really no payoff to the story, the brothers are all lame so I have no desire to continue with this series. It has good bones, but even most skeletons do too ☠️
Save your money/credit and check out Milana Jack's or Ruby Dixon's series if you want a Alpha brothers series. Seriously, Alpha Horde at least gives what this series is clearly lacking plus Omegaverse... what's knot to like about that

Strong alpha men ready to protect!
This is a serious and fun book to listen to and enjoy. The narrator does an excellent job of portraying the emotions that the characters experience. She displays her talent by giving the male and female characters distinctive voices. The story held my attention from the beginning to the end. Due to circumstances beyond her control, Lila must flee to another planet. She seeks refuge in what she believes is an abandoned house. I enjoy how the author develops the character and plot development. The interaction between Zayzon and Lila is sensual, fun, endearing and guarded. The sexual scenes are explosive. I highly recommend this Audible book.

3.5 Stars
3.5 stars This was giving me very heavy Snow White vibes. Evil stepmother, finding a ramshackle abode in the woods (albeit on another planet) 7 people living in the same house...you get the picture. Add that onto the whole fated mates aspect and it was enough to keep me listening. I think Ms. Mills hits a nice niche for me when i'm in the mood for an sci-fi romance but don't want to get bogged down with world building.

Great Story & Narration🎧 A Fascinating Delight!
This is my first Michele Mills’ book and consider me wowed, she is a gifted author with a creative and imaginative mind. She created a wonderful, out of this world, SciFi Romance with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The fascinating characters are easy to relate and connect with. I adored the lead female character, Lila, her character growth was remarkable, she starts off as a weak and fragile person with issues, the rug gets pulled out from under her she needs to learn to cope and survive. Sent to a planet unknown she finds a place to hide out, thinking it was abandoned, she was surprised to find that was not the case, other surprises came her way too. One being in the form of a big, scary male Xylan named Claw, aka Zayzon. Thankfully Xylan’s were allies to humans unbeknownst to her Zayzon was much more than her ally he was her intended mate. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, some action, angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt and emotional ones and a wonderful romance. Michele Mills, thank you for this wonderfully entertaining story, I am looking forward to checking out more of your work.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Lauren Sweet is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. She does an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions and personality. She gives each character their own unique voice which makes it easy to follow the story and who is who. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.🎧

Boring characters - dreadfully sweet and equally dull. I made it to Chapter 10 before quitting. I also hated it that the author kept repeating things for us, as though we, the readers, are so dim witted as to have forgotten.
Maybe a different narrator would have made it tolerable? She had good timing, but played up the ‘nice girl’ too much.
