Beyond Strange Lands is an action-packed and fantastical multicast audio drama that journeys across the Australian outback.
In 1982, the famous paranormal expert Grant Peters went missing while filming his TV show Legendary Australia. His wife, Melissa, was never able to find him. There they discover a collection of old audio tapes that Melissa left behind: a set of clues they must follow if they’re to solve this mystery in time. Insidious forces will stop at nothing to destroy them, and an impossibly ancient menace lurks deep beneath the ground, waiting for the chance to strike....

When Tom is invited to the reading of a will of a great-uncle he’s never heard of, there’s no way to know what to expect. But on the long list of possible things to inherit, a travelling carnival ghost train is the very last on the list. To get his full $10 million inheritance, all Tom has to do is run the antique ride until his 18th birthday. Easy. Story
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

Story
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

The tide is turning against the colonists in the Revolutionary War, and 18-year-old Elizabeth Morris cannot sit by idly. Quietly disdainful of her Tory parents, who drag her along to society events and welcome a British soldier into their home during their occupation of New York City, Elizabeth decides to take matters into her own hands. She realizes that, as a young woman, no one around her believes that she can comprehend the profound implications of being a nation at war - she is, effectively, invisible. And she can use this invisibility to her advantage.

On a dark, wintry day, Eliza Grey receives a mysterious letter from her ailing Nana Mora begging her to come for a visit. This is an easy "Yes". Eliza has always preferred Nana Mora's beach cottage on St. Simons Island to the apartment she and her mom call home in the city. The island is a magical place where stories and legends grow as thick as the Spanish moss dangling in the trees. Now, Nana Mora's eyesight is fading, and there's something she wants to show Eliza before it’s totally gone: a mythical place locals refer to as Sirens Harbor.

Professor Louis Moore’s audiobook about the history of African Americans in sports in the United States educates listeners about the fascinating social and cultural history of the nation. For example, integration of major league and professional sports broke a major color barrier for one of the first times in the early years of the Civil Rights Movement. African American athletes competed in America long before the 20th century - in fact, they even competed during the years of slavery.

Yipes...
The story is extremely hard to follow because the performance quality is spotty. Hard to follow who is speaking since character voices aren't always easily distinguishable and "FX" overwhelm voices throughout. While the narrative recommends earphones, the erratic sound levels require frequent adjustment to hear the voices and then you get your ear drums blown out in the next second....

Decent book. Good enough acting....but the quality of the recording had serious issues. Seemed like one mic was barely working causing an echo and low volume for almost half of the cast. The other half were loud and clear. The technical issues made it difficult to listen to without head phones.

The series is broken into short vignettes. This podcast, in the vein of a radio play, is about a family involved in investigating the paranormal. It takes place in Australia's Outback, and involves some unusual creatures. The performances are good and the sound effects add to it's creepiness. This AO is a winner.

Sound volume too low much of the time.
Good performances and story.
Similar to another audible production like this the background sounds muddied the voices. That wouldn't have been too bad, but the overall maximum volume was so low I had to use an external amplifier to understand some of the dialog. I know some of this is my own hearing impairment but I don't have similar problems with most audio books. Do far it only happens with Audible Originals production that include background sounds to create "environment”
