Ivy Knight feels that her life may never start. Though her loving family assures her that her place in the world is close to home, she still feels a push to move out of her comfort zone. Hoping against hope, she travels to her old friends at McCale House, seeking a purpose.

Jordy McAllen has just returned to Scotland after his education in London. He fears that what everyone has always said about him may be true: He can’t be a good doctor, let alone a good man. Determined to prove himself, Jordy snatches up the opportunity to become the doctor in the village of Keefmore near his parents’ farm.

When an old friend decides to travel to Keefmore and visit a relative, Ivy follows. She soon finds herself drawn to Jordy, but as their attraction grows, they both face doubts. A relationship between the two of them feels improbable--and might just require a step of impossible faith.

I didn't think I could love Ivy Knight more. The love she shows for others is so pure. I really enjoyed how Ivy grew mentally and spiritually. There is nothing "simple" about this dear young lady.

I just love Violet's Aunt Daphne. She's a hoot. I highly recommend the audiobook as her voice, and everyone else's voices, really shine. However, I often struggled with the brogue accents!

I look forward to continuing the series. Lucky for me there are quite a few more books planned for Alice and Ivy.

This continuation in the Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series might be my favorite yet. Ivy’s gentle, quiet demeanor drew me in, and Alexandra Ralph’s narration brought her to life beautifully. The story and performance together made for such an engaging listen.

In the author’s note, Roth mentions she later wished she had chosen a different title, since “beyond” might give the impression that someone could move outside of God’s calling for their life. I actually found the title meaningful in a different way. To me, it reflected Ivy’s own feelings as she searched for her place, learning where she belonged, what she was called to do, and how she could best reflect Christ’s love. Doesn’t God often stretch us beyond our comfort?

Overall, this is a sweet and charming story, full of heart and faith, with narration that perfectly complements it. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian historical fiction with a tender, thoughtful heroine, and one who enjoys on-going series.

Special thanks to Kellyn Roth for the Audible code to listen to this audiobook. Even though this title was a gift, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Alice has found love so it only makes sense the Ivy should too. But often those with learning disabilities find it really hard to do. Soo much social interaction and interpretation can be hard. We get follow Ivy as she follows her heart. And it is a confusing journey with a happily ever after. Confusing in the sense that feeling Ivy’s feelings and being so close to her as she sorts out her interactions can be clear to us but also confusing to Ivy. I love how Kellyn writes Ivy’s thoughts out and takes us on her journey to understand her thoughts and feelings. Ivy is very relatable and she is quickly becoming my favorite between her and Alice. This a great historical fiction with s touch of romance. I definitely recommend to those who love this genre.
