Publisher's summary

Biocentrism shocked the world with a radical rethinking of the nature of reality.

But that was just the beginning. In Beyond Biocentrism, acclaimed biologist Robert Lanza, one of TIME magazine's "100 Most Influential People in 2014", and leading astronomer Bob Berman take the listener on an intellectual thrill ride as they reexamine everything we thought we knew about life, death, the universe, and the nature of reality itself.

The first step is acknowledging that our existing model of reality is looking increasingly creaky in the face of recent scientific discoveries. Science tells us with some precision that the universe is 26.8 percent dark matter, 68.3 percent dark energy, and only 4.9 percent ordinary matter but must confess that it doesn't really know what dark matter is and knows even less about dark energy. Science is increasingly pointing toward an infinite universe but has no ability to explain what that really means. Concepts such as time, space, and even causality are increasingly being demonstrated as meaningless.

All of science is based on information passing through our consciousness, but science hasn't the foggiest idea what consciousness is, and it can't explain the linkage between subatomic states and observation by conscious observers. Science describes life as a random occurrence in a dead universe but has no real understanding of how life began or why the universe appears to be exquisitely designed for the emergence of life.

The biocentrism theory isn't a rejection of science. Quite the opposite. Biocentrism challenges us to fully accept the implications of the latest scientific findings in fields ranging from plant biology and cosmology to quantum entanglement and consciousness.

By listening to what the science is telling us, it becomes increasingly clear that life and consciousness are fundamental to any true understanding of the universe. This forces a fundamental rethinking of everything we thought we knew about life, death, and our place in the universe.

Mind Blowing

Some of the stuff in this book I had wondered about before I had ever heard of quantum mechanics. It "feel" right to me. I don't think there is a lot we are meant to know, as to the why, but the how, we might be able to unlock.

fearlessness!!

This is the second enhancement of Biocentrism. Believe me, it is worth listening to. Try not to let your mind wander too much for you might miss a vital point. Life and entanglement and collapse of the wave function puts us flat into the middle of the co-relation of ourselves and the entire universe! How beautiful and touching a view. All is important! All the way down to the glow worm and deserves to be treated that way! I am not a highly educated person and even I can get some glimmer and understanding of this view. So do not hesitate on listening to. Lanza and Berman have stated what other scientists have been too afraid to say!

Mindblowing change of perspective!

It is such a pleasure to hear an important scientist talking about interbeing in such a mindblowing presentation. I have so many questions for Dr Lanza.

a real head spinner

Biocentrism is a baffling paradigm shift. It turns all past and contemporary science on its head. I think that it's the proper prespective for studying the last frontier of science.

Excellent work and backed up with factual examples

Unlike Stephen Hawkins who backed up our understanding of the universe with circular arguments, Lanza has corrected the pseudoscience of Stephen Hawkins.

Genius

A must read! Those who truly understand the basic principles of quantum physics will understand this book. Those with preconceived notions and/or dogmas that consume their life will be the ones who give it a bad review. Dr. Lanza is a genius. I enjoyed his first book and this one. I can't wait to read the third! Keep an open mind and you will get it.

the most revolutionary concept in science

The implications of this book will undoubtedly change your whole perspective on life and death and why we are here. Not many books have this kind of power!

Here's the thing

First of all, let me address the concept of biocentrism and the naysayers:

There are people who desperately look for factual errors in the book, or any books like it, and use that to attempt to take credibility away from the authors and the concept. On the other hand, there are people who will seek to prove the authors to be credible so that they can take the book seriously. Understandable, but not sensible.

Just stop, read or listen to the book, use your own intelligence to evaluate what is being conveyed here. We can't judge a piece of information or wisdom based on who wrote it, or based on a miniscule part. Ironically this -is- one of the most important messages in the book, we have to look at things as a whole if we are to understand. This concept isn't a scientific theory, because the concept itself questions science as a platform to understand the world.

So trying to find scientific proof, which is by definition exclusively a concept of science, to prove a foundation that seeks to transcend science, is obviously pointless. The science parts of this book are there to help you understand, that's all. If you don't want to understand the book, then I would recommend not reading it. If you want to understand it, then start by understanding that it isn't based on science. Because as the book tries to explain (and does so very well) is that the scope of biocentrism is larger than the scope of science. This is not an unreasonable scope of a concept. The idea that the scope of science includes any of the fundamental questions about existence, is simply wrong. That is provable by thinking about it. "Uh real proof requires actual non-subjective data and-" bapp bapp bapp! No it does not, that is called scientific proof. You can (and I am so sad that some people will need to even have this explained to them) prove things with 100% certainty without any concrete data whatsoever.

Are you conscious? Prove it. You can't, but you know with 100% certainty that you are. This is outside the scope of science, so to assume that science is the study of the absolute is just ignorance.

I highly recommend this book. If you are someone who are ignorant enough to believe that nothing is of value without scientific proof, and you are not open to change that perspective, then you will waste your time here.

As for the performance, I can listen to it just fine. The narrator is very, very American. It kinda feels like a 7 hour long movie trailer. I've gotten used to it though, it's all about mindset!
