Publisher's Summary

Love wasn’t supposed to be a part of the deal… Even a famed matchmaker like Nolan Madaris’s great-grandmother can’t get it right every time. Nolan, the notorious fun-loving ladies’ man, could never connect with someone as straitlaced as tech whiz Ivy Chapman. Yet the scheme Ivy proposes is tempting - they can pretend to be a couple, just long enough to satisfy their families. But someone forgot to clue in their hearts.

What happens, though, when Ivy’s plan to get her relatives off her back has an unexpected side effect: getting her into Nolan’s bed? Houston’s number one womanizer may have found the only one who can truly satisfy him, body and soul. But with a man from Ivy’s past determined to be part of her future, both she and Nolan will have to decide what’s fake, what’s real and what’s worth fighting for…

Narrator ruins it for me

The narrator sounds robotic. It is super distracting. I’ll download the kindle version. I cannot concentrate in the story.

a little let down...

The story was another beautiful Madaris romance by Mrs. Brenda Jackson... but, i was disappointed by the narration. i am accustomed to Mr. Pete Olms suave, husky voice like in all his other Madaris novels and this time... it was totally different.

Ain’t no way😖

I liked the few chuckles I was able to muster during the last chapter. I found this book very disappointing for many reasons but I only have room to share a little bit, I was basically zoned out for 23 chapters because it felt like it was being dragged along. The romance was rushed with nothing but lust portrayal and hardly any plot development and so unlike the Madaris family series. I’m use to hanging on to every word practically from the beginning of each book in this series. And the narrator, was NOT Pete Ohms. There is no way Mr. Ohms would stray so far from the Madaris family signature tones/character development up to this point. This narrator was not familiar with the personalities of the characters prior, the narration made these characters seem like pouty teenagers at times and previously introduced characters were presented as much older than they were and pouty too. No I would not recommend this book to anyone but I know this author has penned great works and I have enjoyed meeting the Madaris family and have always awaited with great anticipation for the next unveiling with no disappointments. I even listen to the Madaris series multiple times but I will be returning this audio book, I got nothing from this couple, no smiles, no imaginings of what they will be like as a cameo appearance in a future book in the series, all I received was being irked at the poor performance for this couple and hope whoever this reader is will not be representing the Madaris family again. Yes I’m thoroughly disappointed 😞

I have enjoyed Brenda Jackson’s series in the past but this one disappoints. The plot wasn’t engaging and the characters were pretty boring. Most importantly, the narration was horrible.
Very disappointing.

Where is Pete???

First I'd like to thank Brenda Jackson for an awesome story. I am a true Madaris Fan!!! I can't wait for the next book... However, please find Pete Ohme!!! That narrator was killing me.... I struggled to finish this one.

What's with Pete?

The story line is that which is typical of Brenda Jackson, which I love. But something is off with the narration. Is this really Pete Ohms? Did the recording tools change? Is he sick? It was hard to listen to.

Horrible Performance

The reader was so terrible. I never say this, but I didn’t even finish the book, because he irritated me so much. No stars for that, if I could have.

Best laid plans

Disappointed with book. Narrator's voice was different than previous books even though it was Ohms, which changed the voices of all madaris characters

I Miss Pete Ohms regular voice

I love this book! I normally live for the Madaris novels because they are all narrated by Pete Ohms! I love his deep sultry voice but I truly feel like he held back his voice in this book! I don't know if it was to make it more streamlined, but I did not care for it! Even with the characters he has previously narrated before their voices in the other books have always been the same but this time they were different and that disturbed me! His voice has always made the Madaris family real to me!!
