Not the best.

Maybe because they’re “American”. The “Bookshop” annual mystery collections are 70-90% good whereas these probably 30-50% good enough to finish or remember. Get the impression that this series is getting more throwaway contributions from hacks or authors saving better works for elsewhere.
I often try to listen to the end but I find that if I don’t like it in the first 5 minutes, I will regret continuing. I regret at least half of these, just a few clever ones and few were really mysterious or mysteries

Very strange stories for a mystery anthology

I wouldn’t call most of the stories mysteries. A couple of good ones, but more of them were boring or just strange. If these were the best of the year, it was a very bad year!!! Readers overall good, but didn’t have much to work with.
