After seasons of torment, can Autumn Evans begin again?
Fleeing an abusive relationship, Autumn Evans has experienced it all: love, fear, and heartbreak. After seven years of emotional suffering, Autumn returns to Maplewood with a dark past full of secrets. Easily triggered by surprises, loud outbursts, and tight hugs, Autumn struggles to find the woman she used to be and reconnect with the family and friends she pushed away.
But when Mason, the man who shattered her heart and her very being, coerces himself back into her life, she’s forced to face the traumatic past that sent her away from the small town in the first place. All hope in regaining her sense of self seems abandoned until she meets Emmett Miller.
When fate forces their paths to cross, Emmett learns that asking for forgiveness may be easier than giving it. As Emmett and Autumn’s love blossoms, Autumn must search beneath the layers of her heart and determine whether she can love again...

Readers who enjoy romances set in a small town with found family will enjoy Beneath Autumn Leaves. There are themes of DV, hurt & comfort, and a dog needing surgery (after a hit and run) for those who may find those items triggering.
Arya Jacobs did a phenomenal job of narrating, with emotion pouring out in droves! Themes within the book were very heavy at times and she did a great job balancing all the different characters
Narration aside, the story within Beneath Autumn Leaves was a bit messy and at times hard to follow. I got lost in what was a memory vs a dream. There were some characters introduced that felt a bit nonessential at times. Autumn’s mother was insufferable and I cringed every time she made an appearance, even more so than Mason. There was a lot of drama in the last few chapters that I felt could have been spread out more earlier in the book to help with the flow of the story.
