Publisher's summary

The 40 days of fasting before Christmas are meant to prepare us for the Feast of the Nativity, but the busyness of the secular celebration can interfere with our best efforts to center our hearts on Christ.

Behold a Great Light is a daily devotional, designed to help listeners contemplate the mysteries of the Incarnation, from the beginning of the Nativity fast on November 15, through Christmas and Theophany, ending with the Synaxis of St. John the Baptist on January 7.

Popular Ancient Faith authors, bloggers, and podcasters bring their own unique perspectives to these meditations, which are paired with selections from the scriptures and the hymns of the Church.

Excellent (Orthodox) Christian daily listening from Advent through Theophany

Well-written and narrated by a diverse group of Orthodox Christian women and men, each day's reading brings fresh inspiriations and perspectives on biblical and extra-biblical Orthodox Christian Tradition and applies it with fresh interpretation and application to the contemporary life. Highly recommend!

Joy to the world.

A daily meditation on Gods coming into the world. The book added depth
to my understanding of the gift of Christ. It enriched my experience of
Christmas and my relationship with Christ.
I think it will be useful throughout the year but particularly during the Advent time.

Enlightening and Profound

As a Roman Catholic I tried this in my journey through Advent. I found it to be a wonderful guide and anchor for keeping me focused on the more important meaning of Christmas. I will be using it again for Advent 2024.

Quintessential for Nativity/Advent

This is the most lovely guide through the Nativity season. It opens up so many aspects of the season that has centered our hearts to really anticipate the coming of the Christ-child and what it means for all of creation. BUY. THIS. BOOK.
