Publisher's summary

The instant New York Times and USA Today best-selling debut psychological thriller you can't miss!

The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie?

"A hair-raising debut, both unsettling and addictive.... A chilling thriller that will keep you reading long into the night." (Mary Kubica, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of The Good Girl)

"This debut is guaranteed to haunt you.... Warning: brace yourself." (Bustle: 10 New Thrillers to Read This Summer)

"The sense of believably and terror that engulfs Behind Closed Doors doesn't waver." (The Associated Press, picked up by The Washington Post)

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He's a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You're hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better.

But it's difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable.

Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn't work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows.

Some might wonder what's really going on once the dinner party is over and the front door has closed.

From best-selling author B. A. Paris comes the gripping thriller and international phenomenon Behind Closed Doors.

Just don't

This book makes you want to know what happens at the end... but the process is so painful and annoying. So you listen and you are frustrated and horrified but intrigued. The best thing to do now, is skip ahead to the last hour and find out what happens. And if you are a dog lover....

Man, I wanted to slap this woman

first of all let me say thanks to Audible I was able to complete this story. I the past and present was a little annoying, but I got used to it and was able to keep up with what was going on. this story seem like something that could not happen but I know that it could be cuz it's happening every day in home everywhere around the world and it's scary. whether I like it or not this is someone's reality, but believe me I would have been free long before she finally discovered a way out. I think her concern for her sister was just exaggerated. she gave this man too much credit and too much power over her life and I wanted her to do something I wanted her to go into a phone booth and put on her Wonder Woman outfit. I wanted her to stop being wimpy.

THE BEST NOVEL SO FAR!

Where does Behind Closed Doors rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's far above them all. I read it in one day. Just couldn't turn it off.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The storyline will make a great movie. It's on a par with Julia Roberts movie Sleeping with the Enemy. This is a MUST READ and the narrator was perfect.

Any additional comments?

This book ranks ahead of any I've read in a very long time. The storyline, narrator, the vivid characters bring this story to life.

A BIT FAR FETCHED

...but none the less entertaining. Narration was great. Initially I found the story quite engaging and suspenseful. After the first third of the book it began to be so far fetched I no longer felt the psychological suspense. But still found it not a total loss and hung in til the end

A little far fetched

First of all I almost couldn’t listen any longer after the incident with the dog. Second, I find this story very unbelievable. Most people probably wouldn’t behave like grace in that situation and I find it highly unlikely that a doctor and police officer would just dismiss her claims. Not a realistic story and kind of dragged on for way too long. The narrator was good though.

Entertaining but no mystery about it.

Although the plot kept my interest, I was way ahead of the main character in knowing what was going to happen next, right up until the very last word. I usually enjoy a book more if I don't know who is doing what to who until mid way thorough. There were also some very grim parts that were not done very well and the whole thing was a bit klutzy. However, I did listen until the end so it must have at least kept my attention. The reader was grand though. Georgia Maguire should be your next great reader.

I kept holding my breath

This is one of the best audio books I've listened to, even though I am some what of a newbie.
I found myself holding my breath in many instances. This is one of the first books where I felt the emotions of the main character. I felt anxiety, anger, sadness, fear, disgust...and more anger. The writing was great. The narration was superb. With each chapter that passed, the need to know what happened was so great that I wanted to fast forward. I would highly recommend this to anyone that loves a great suspense. But be prepared for the emotional roller coaster that this author is about to send you on.
