I felt this book was extremely repetitive. It kept saying that John Wycliffe was a superior scholar and communicator, that he stood against a false and flawed religious system, that he was a light and guide for the underserved and that his writings were used by the political establishment to separate itself from the powerful and hypocritical Catholic Church, and gave some details about how that was done, but it seemed to continue to say that message over and over again with little more meat, needed more details less generalizations. I knew this much about him, so I didn’t learn more from this book.
Maybe someone who never heard of John Wycliffe would benefit from this book

Many words to say the same thing.

The AI narration was rough. It pronounced John Wycliffe’s name many ways including WEEcliff, WHYcliff, WICKcliff, and WAYcliff. Even in the course of one sentence it pronounced his name multiple ways. Same with Jan Hus. Sometimes it was pronounced HUss. Sometimes HOOs. I really wanted the content, so I put up with it, but it’s worth considering the awful AI before you pay money for the book. The content was extremely repetitive while sacrificing detail and depth. The book could have been much shorter or alternatively it could have actually used examples to illustrate its points, like actually giving an example of Wycliffe using scripture in critical essays about the church. That said, this was a decent overview of the importance of both men’s contributions to pre reformation Europe. You just have to use the fast forward button judiciously.
