Publisher's Summary

Is accurate, well-detailed bee work a desire for you? What you need to know and do for the first time, and subsequently, this book will tell.

This book is intended for those who are just about to acquire skills, who voluntarily agree to be an apprentice to bees in a conditional time period from zero to (how it turns out) years when there is nobody to consult with anyone other than the book.

Take a sneak peek at a few of the details inside:

  • Buying bees - where and how much to buy hives?
  • Bee care - avoiding stings
  • The beekeeping tasks
  • How to inspect a hive
  • Beekeeping calendar
  • Swarming of bees
  • Preparing a new hive
  • Pumping honey
  • Special operations for wintertime
  • Introducing a new queen
  • Combining beehives
  • Protecting bees and beehives from bears
  • Propolis, beeswax, and royal jelly facts and uses
  • Medicinal properties, collection, and storage of bee venom
  • And much more!

The novice beekeeper makes the most mistakes from ignorance and fear. Fear of being stung, fear of crushing the bees, fear of a developed hive and much that frightens, passes only with repeated repetition of the past

Bait and switch. Don’t buy!

This was what sounded like a 19th century, British book on beekeeping. The language and described practices were archaic. I’ve since looked at passages of Amber Jone’s book on Amazon, and I can assure you that this audio book is NOT the book advertised.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

This book was exceptionally useful to me as I am simply starting with beekeeping. All the data is precisely clarified and it certainly explains well about beekeeping's primary concepts.

straight forward

The book had a lot of good ideas. I expect I will try to use some of them, and actually already have. There are good points to be distilled out of the book.

I just love the book! I've been finishing this one for hours and I was really having a great time after that. This is the best beekeeping guide I've had so far! I could not wait to share it with my peers.

Strange that no other reviewers have picked up on

this, but the book is written in the weirdest English. I started to listen carefully to the syntax and expressions and have come to the conclusion that this is probably a Google translation of a book written in Polish (or conceivably Russian/Serbian because of references to Orthodox Church candles and bears, but I see more Polish elements) I can't seem to find the actual written book in English published anywhere. The narrator uncritically read this text out in perfect RP, not baulking at any textual anomalies and that is where is starts to become quite comedic, at least I found it so.

Nevertheless I have only docked one point for that, partly because I found it quite amusing and since I know all the languages mentioned I could follow the meaning anyway, and partly because, yes it is a pretty useful introduction to the topic with good facts and hints.

If the text being in "Polglish" won't bother you, or on the contrary might please you, then the book can be recommended.
