Publisher's Summary

Once upon a time there was a beautiful college student...

Erin cleans Mr. Morris's house twice a week to pay her tuition. The reclusive ex-soldier intimidates her, but she can't help but feel sympathy for him. Then she walks in on him touching himself, and she has much darker, much more sensual feelings.

And a beastly professor with scars he can't hide...

Blake Morris knows he's scarred both inside and out. He's reclusive and surly. Nowhere near good enough for the smart and beautiful young woman who cleans his house.

He receives an offer to return to his alma mater as an associate professor. This is his chance to reenter the world - and to be worthy of the woman he dreams about. He never expected to see her sitting in his classroom on the first day of the semester.

Author's Note: This book was previously published as a serial in multiple parts, including Beauty Touched the Beast, Beneath the Beauty, and Broken Beauty. They've been collected into this volume and revised for new listeners.

Beauty and The Professor is the first book in A Modern Fairy Tale duet.

This book WILL melt your kindle

This book starts out hot and heavy. There is no foreplay, they just get right to business. It is not until a few chapters in that the characters are described Once that description begins, there is no way to out down this book. Blake is so hard to like at first, but once his back story unfolds, you cannot help but to fall in love with him. Erin is sweet and just trying to work her way through school. She does not want any hand outs or favors. I like her strong personality. This story really fills with drama when an ex-girlfriend returns. There is not many winks at the original story, but Beauty and the Professor has a life of its own. It is a great story with an ending that will leave you needing more.

Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola narrate this story. Mr. Dexter is an amazing Blake. He completely brings Blake to life exactly as I imagined him. Mr. Dexter is able to narrate Erin with the same enthusiam. Those hot scenes were even hotter with his narration! No matter what Lia Langola narrates, it is amazing. Ms Langola does not disappoint in this story. Lia narrates Erin exactly as I imagined her. Ms Langola brings out her determination and strength. Ms Langola's sultry voice is perfect for Blake I really enjoyed the duet narration. The narration enhanced the experience of the story.

Retelling of a fairytale done right

This is by far the best retelling of Beauty And The Beast I’ve heard in a very long time.

It’s dirty, it’s forbidden, it’s additive from minute one. I’m only upset that college wasn’t like this for me. The thing about Skye Warren is with her writing style she can take a story you know and still knock you on your butt. I’ll just be over here white knuckling my wait til the next book.

I would recommend this to fans of fairytales, erotic fiction, hot professors, people that already know Skye Warren is the Queen and people that still need to meet her writing.

Very hot and lots of drama

This audiobook is beautifully written and narrated, but it is not quite my style. I really enjoyed parts of the book, but the high number of sex scenes and the intensity of the New Adult type of drama were too much for my preference. I prefer between one and five bedroom scenes per book, but this one seemed like it had over a dozen, in a 5.5-hour audiobook! About halfway through, I just started skipping the sex scenes because I was getting bored with how Erin and Blake hit the bedroom every 24 hours or less. Also, there was too much relationship drama for me. I am not a New Adult fan, and I did not realize that this duet series fell squarely into that category. I prefer that if the emotions are constantly up and down like in this book, then it should be balanced with a bunch of humor. However, this is an emotional rollercoaster with basically no humor.

I loved many things about the storyline. First, I did love how Erin and Blake started their sexual relationship. It was a very hot first few chapters! Holey moly! Secondly, I like the elements which made the book into a modern Beauty and the Beast tale. Blake was scarred by an IED attack while on a tour of duty as a Marine. He is a highly intelligent man who had been previously headed toward a career in politics like his father, but instead became a recluse. Erin is a poor but beautiful and smart graduate student cleaning houses part time. Next, I really liked how the author correctly portrayed the structure, atmosphere, and classes of a graduate program. I was impressed with the suitably intellectual nature of a graduate class's discussion material. Finally, I liked Erin and Blake. They are basically good people, and the author is very good at showing the reader the pair's thoughts and feelings. In addition, their different but equally strong insecurities made these two an ironically good match.

The duet narration by Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola was excellent. The male and female narrators were enthusiastic, skilled, and committed to their work. They were both great at pacing, emoting, and sex scenes. My only tiny criticism is that Stephen Dexter did not get the heroine’s voice quite right.

Lust at first sight

If you like a story with a prelude to sex, rather than character development, this book is for you. There was angst, struggles, villains, secrets, lies...the romance and love comes much later. The story ended on a disjointed note. For closure, I would recommend book 2.

Professor Morris can be my beast any day!

Beauty and the Professor is a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I have to admit to cheating on this a bit. I read this book many years ago when it was a serial novella. I was easily drawn to the Professor not in sympathy but as the greedy bookslut I am. I fall for most heroes and Professor Morris made it so easy.

The sexy, scarred and insanely intelligent man has a spirit that was crushed. A mind that's been on lock down and a physical presence he hides from the world. Some would say he is broken. I would then say he's mine. I'm totally a fixer when it comes to broken men. Blake isnt a project though. He's a piece of my heart that I haven't seen in years.

I enjoyed reliving my Beauty and the Professor experience while appreciating the new "angle." Listening to the narrators bring these characters to life gave me a new appreciation. It didn't hurt any less all ready knowing what was coming though! I still fought my emotions and couldn't help but want to strangle something.

Enjoy this tale of woe and don't forget to grab your happily ever after too!

Captivating

Oh this story was captivating. I did not want to stop listening. This is book 1 of 2 and you definitely want to have book 2 ready as soon as you are done with this one. This story’s lesson is “don’t judge a book by its cover” I think the narrators do a great job. I always enjoy male/female narration.

My Thoughts on Beauty and the Professor

Finishing the story I was hit by a few things at once. Number one was that I remember now why I hate duets when both parts aren't out. Of course I don't really "hate" them, I just honestly think if I had to wait for book two after the ending to this story I might have gone crazy.

But that leads me to another thing that hit me. Skye Warren is a fantastic author. The words she crafted in this story absolutely drew me in, and had me hanging on every word. I was so completely wrapped up in these characters, and the more I learned about them the more I loved them. I feel like this book kind of gave me everything and of course I appreciated and loved the nod to the classic fairytale. But there was obviously romance and so much passion in the story. There were two amazing leading characters and a couple of pretty decent secondary characters. There was just this great storyline to have me completely hooked and not wanting to put the story down.

And then there was that darn ending. The kind of ending that has your jaw on the floor, you want to throw whatever device you're reading/listening on and at the same time your mind ia blown by just how much you actually loved the story.

I also can't say enough about the narrators for this story Lia Langola has been a favorite of mine for a while and I never hesitate to listen to a new story that she's narrating. Stephen Dexter is a newer narrator to me but I definitely intend to listen to more. He was like the perfect Beast/Professor in this story for me. I felt like his voice was exactly what I would have imagined the Beast to sound like in any retelling of Beauty and the Beast. And I'm just amazed at how perfectly suited he was. Now I am off to start book two because I absolutely need to know how this fantastic story ends.

Fun rendition of Beauty and the Beast-very steamy

First, Stephen Dexter is fantastic. Great voices, excellent pacing and wonderful emotion throughout the book. I really enjoyed his narration. i liked that he had a gravelly, deep voice for the professor, Blake, who is the "beast" in the story. Lia Langola was great too- she was able to differentiate between the different characters and was a pleasure to listen to.

The story itself was a very steamy and fun rendition of "beauty and the beast". It's a combination of the professor/student trope and the reimagined fairy tale. I liked the characters. Erin was naive and sweet, with a very good heart while Blake is an alpha man who has been beaten down a bit by circumstances. The steam started pretty much immediately and is highly prevalent in the book, so if that's not your jam, this is fair warning. But it's a fun, interesting story that kept my attention as these two characters had to overcome their pasts and then present obstacles to come together. This is book 1 of 2 so there is a cliffhanger at the end.

I received this book from #AudioBookObsession as an #AudioBookObsessionReviewer.

Both hot AND sweet!

In this fabulous re-imaging of the classic fairy story, Skye Warren has written a book which succeeds in combining red hot scenes with a tender love story. Blake and Erin are both vulnerable and both in need of 'saving'. Their vulnerabilities come from vastly different sources, but, nonetheless, they are a balm to each other. There is angst, hope, threats and love, and I was drawn into the narrative from the start to the end of this part of the duet.
The narration was good, with both Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola capturing essential aspects of both Blake and Erin. That being said, there were a couple of occasions when, during a hot scene, Stephen's tempo did remind me of a horse race commentator, getting over-revved as the climax was approaching 😊. Nevertheless, I recommend this audio as a very good listen, and I cannot wait to listen to the concluding part 💖💖

Pure, beautiful love

Warning! Lots of sexy time in this audiobook! Consider yourself forewarned😉

This story was very loosely inspired by Beauty and the Beast's overall themes.

I really liked the characters, and the fact, that they actually talked (mostly), so their misunderstandings didn't last unnecessary long!

But hands down my favorite part was the male narrator Stephen Dexter's deep growly voice 🤤

Fabulous reworking of an old tale

Stephen Dexter and Lia Langola really brought this story to life. It jumped out of my headphones and sucked me right in.

I loved this story. It goes so in depth into their relationship that it really pulled me in. And oh my gosh is it steamy!!! Such a good use of an old tale but also worked further into and made more. It just works. The only thing I didn't like is the ending. It's not a cliffhanger, it just stops! Most annoying!!! Now I need the next one....

Perfect retelling with a taboo twist!

This book was everything! The retelling was perfect in every way! I have listened to a few other fairy tale retellings that just didnt seem right and this was NOT one of them! I feel like this book hit all the important aspects of Beauty and the Beast and then added a steamy, taboo twist! This boss/employee turned student/teacher taboo was everything I could have asked for and more!

Oh my god the narration was beyond words! Stephen Dexter did amazing playing the damaged older man and Lia Langola was the perfect woman to bring the young, insecure woman to life!

Love...

Beauty and the Professor is only the beginning…

Erin is an interesting choice as the heroine in Beauty and the Professor I must admit I was a bit intrigued with her. Erin is a submissive without question. She allows Blake to see the true her as many have not.

Blake let’s her see his unworthiness. Blake knows that he shouldn’t want Erin, but he can he stop his desires.

Blake and Erin have their challenges in their courtship, but the most challenging is the battle within themselves.

As Beauty and the Professor left off in a mild cliffhanger I got one can wait to see if Blake and Erin beet the challenges before them of do they just walk away.

Stephen Dexter (Narrator), Lia Langola (Narrator) did a amazing job at portraying Blake and Erin. I hope they will continue on to the next book.

Adult fairy tail

On the surface a hot n steamy fairy tail (or not?) dig deeper and there are all sorts of questionable morals and ethics.
Well written, well narrated, no! Excellently narrated!. Great subject matter (not just a hot mess)
While I was listening it was the love and healing that had me gripped, afterwards it was the reason at the ending... very thought provoking! ... or you could just listen for for the heat. So an all rounder I guess 😂
Definitely enjoyed and looking forward to more.

Wow

Loved this story about a man disfigured from war and a young girl from the wrong side of the tracks cleaning his home. So many hurdles in their way, just when you think they will be okay something else comes to pull them apart.

Not my tea

Although this book was sexy and well written, it just wasn’t my cup of tea, I like books with sexual tension, a build up to the big show, this book was straight up wham bam thank you mam, the narrators were great but this book wasn’t for me
