I wanted to really like it

I read/listen a lot, and I love Regency stories a lot. I was hoping for a tale based on beauty and the beast. While there are certain elements of the fairy tale from the very beginning I felt like I was reading a rewrite of Pride and Prejudice. Many of the scenes are very obviously lifted from that story. There isn't inherently wrong with that, but it distracted me from the story.
