Publisher's Summary

Avery Collins has just landed her dream job, pastry chef for the posh-Manhattan restaurant Clover. Her new boss, Trace Montgomery, even helped with securing her an affordable place to live: a beautifully restored carriage house owned by his friend Rafe McKenzie - a man who makes her catch her breath and stirs her imagination. Trouble is, he's involved with someone. His father is being released after 25 years in prison, and Avery is just his tenant. Exploring the attraction that sizzles whenever they're together would be the icing on the cake, but Avery knows all too well that you can't have everything. Of course, what's cake without icing?

Rafe McKenzie's world shattered at nine when his father Liam - the only parent he knew - was arrested and convicted for armed robbery. Growing up in the system, Rafe managed to survive his childhood, and now has a job he enjoys, a house he's restoring, and a tight circle of friends. He's even working on reconciling with his dad, both eager to put the past in the past. Happy for the income a tenant would bring, Rafe agrees to rent his carriage house to Clover's new pastry chef.

When Avery Collins pulls up his drive, she's not at all what he's expecting. Funny, sexy, and sweet as her desserts, it doesn't take long for things between them to heat up. Just when it seems as if they'll have their cake and eat it, too, the past comes back with deadly intent, leaving Rafe to figure out who's pulling the strings before his world shatters again

Due to strong language and sexual content, this audiobook is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

A Slow Burn Romance with Elements of Suspense

This was an entertaining slow burn romance with elements of suspense. It's the third in the series (I have not read/listened to the previous 2 books), but it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Characters from the previous books do appear though.

Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks were wonderful as Rafe and Avery. I enjoyed both their female and male voices and they were perfect for their characters. Tracy Marks pulled off quirky and goofy Avery so wonderfully, while Aaron Shedlock was just the right amount of sexy and rugged in his performance as Rafe. The pacing of the story was a bit slow in the beginning and it took a bit before I felt really invested in the characters. I loved the running theme of family (by blood or by choice) and the strong connection between Rafe, Trace, and Lucien. I did question Avery's intelligence a few times (clumsy and careless are two different things!), but overall, this was an entertaining book. The story definitely had my mouth watering a few times with all the dessert talk too!

Beautifully decadent

I really enjoyed this book and read it start to finish. It was full of sweet and witty moments and I just loved Avery who was a goofball with a big heart and some of the things she got herself into really made me laugh out loud.

Loved it!

Fabulous book and the narrators were both awesome. It is definitely not a "stand alone" book series. I love how the author continued the life stores of those we met in the first book.

ooo...sweet treats & hot guy...what's not to love?

Pastry chef, Avery, is starting her dream job, and her boss has helped her find a place to live! A cute carriage house that belongs to his friend, Rafe. Avery is attracted to Rafe but, of course he has a gf...whom I did not like! Besides which, he's her boss's friend. Rafe is drawn to the kind and funny Avery but he's not 'free'. Listening to the push and pull between these two as they try to deny deny deny the mutual attraction is entertaining. Will they have an HEA? Maybe...maybe not...You have to find out on your own. While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone so it is not necessary to listen to the other books...but it will give you some background on the other couples (Rafe's friends).
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Good narration, great story.

This is my favorite out of the three stories. I've read it many times and was excited to see it available on audio. It was a no brainier to spend my credit on this one. Rafe and Avery are my favorite!!!!

Really Decadent!

This is the third book in the Beautifully Damaged Series. I haven't listened to the first books in the Series, but I will! I love this slow burn love story. I was hooked from the first page to the end. I love the two main characters, Avery and Rafe. Avery is a pastry chef and she is sweet, funny and feisty. Rafe is a woodworker and he is honest, handsome and protective. They are great together and we can feel their strong chemistry. I also love the other characters. I wanted to eat pastries, cakes or any desserts, while listening! It's really decadent! The storyline is also filled with a little suspense and some twists and turns, so this story has it all. The narration was really great. I absolutely love the team formed by Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock. Don't ask me how is it possible to like a woman's voice narrated by a man and a female's voice narrated by a woman, but I do! I really enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Beautifully Decadent

Amazing! Although I haven’t read the first two books in this series I will definitely be going back to get them. I absolutely loved the story of these two and the twists in here were just heartbreaking. I was so glad to see a happy ending there so it made the heartbreak worth it. The narration was spot on perfect!

Ms. LA Fiore is always a MUST READ!!

Every single book that Ms. LA Fiore is pure gold. I can’t even explain how her stories create a home in my heart and live there. I haven’t read/listened to the other books in this series and I know that I missed some things but I don’t feel as if I’m missing anything. Rafe McKenzie was so completely fascinating! I loved learning about him. But my favorite part was Avery and all the pastry chef fun that happens in this book! I love Ms. Fiore’s wit and humor!

Then, once you factor in the excellent narrators Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock, this audiobook is one that will be consumed super quickly! You won’t be able to stop yourself! Ms. Marks and Mr. Shedlock gave us a tasty treat with their lovely storytelling ways!

I Loved This Book!

I was pulled into this book from the very beginning. The vivid descriptions of the pastry confections had me drooling and wanting to find a Clover. Avery and Refe had an immediate attraction. I love a slow burn romance. This is a standalone listen with cameo appearances of characters from Beautifully Damaged and Beautifully Forgotten. I really loved the interaction of the characters in this book. The narration was perfect. Both Tracy Marks and Aaron Shedlock had great chemistry and realistic emotions. They gave the characters distinguished voices. I love it when a book is multifaceted like a gem. This book has several stories going on that meld together like a perfect meal.

Beautifully delicious!

This book had me at the first pastry! LA Fiore has written another gem of a story about Avery and Rafe. Avery recently landed her dream job as a pastry chef for a prestigious restaurant. She needs to find a place to live, and is offered the carriage house on Rafe's property. What great characters these two are. Rafe is wonderfully warm and highly protective. His way is easy and direct, one Avery is hard to ignore. Avery is hesitant and ambitious, looking to get herself settled, not looking for a relationship til she meets Rafe. Fiore has given this couple a slow burn romance with fun and flirty banter and a little suspense! She incorporates some family dissension between Avery and her father, as well as Rafe and his mother. Throw in Rafe's father who just got out of jail and is being followed, and we have a tension filled, funny, and romantic story. It's a good balance of love, suspense and humor. I especially loved all the baking Avery did, was hoping for some recipes it all sounded so good! Even though this is the third in the Beautifully Damaged trilogy, it stands alone, and now I will go back to listen to the first two in the series!

Aaron Shedlock and Tracy Marks are a team of narrators that I will one-click every time. They are able to play off of each other so well, each point of view perfect for their character, and fits with each other seamlessly. Both have a vast array of characters to play in this story, and each has their own voice. It amazes me how easy it is to know who is speaking! I loved their portrayal of this book.

loved rafes story

not as much punch in this story as the previous 2 but it works as rafe is the quieter of the 3.
So Averys character blends perfectly for rafe. a little bit of whodunnit makes it intriguing and a twist with family. great heartwarming story
