Publisher's Summary

Golf is a beloved yet technical game, so a sound swing and precise technique are essential. Most golfers who want to improve their skills go to the range and work painstakingly on their swings, not realizing it's often their performance state on the course that needs work, not their technique. Simple things such as awareness of your balance, tension, and tempo, as well as the ability to control mental, emotional, and social variables you encounter while playing, can quickly take your game to a new performance level.

Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott, founders of VISION54's groundbreaking and innovative golf program, are here to help. Aimed at both the weekend golfer and the advanced player, each chapter presents a series of "human skills" - including assignments, explorations, and mini lessons - that strip away the complexity surrounding swing technique and playing consistency - the conditional variations that plague golfers.

Be a Player is a must-listen for any golfer who wants to unite technical skills and on-course performance seamlessly and effectively. With this cutting-edge book, you will become a true student of VISION54 and a better player on the course...where it matters most!

one of the better books I have owned.

loved this book.
very different from so many other golf books I have read.
it comes across as a guide and things said seem easy to implement but deep down it's tougher than the technical aspect of golf and will require practice .
I recommend this book to every golfer from a pro to a beginner.

Simple Steps to Fixing your thoughts

I have been hitting the ball so well on the range but struggled to take the feeling to the course. Great ideas, stories, and steps to help translate the feeling of confidence and trust in your mind. Such an important but overlooked concept in golf and The Game of Life. I really enjoyed the book. thank you to the authors.

Great stuff.

Listen to the book multiple times to get the most out of it. I've faced all the self inflicted problems discussed in the book many times. I feel as though I'm now better equipped to deal them.

Chose what you takeaway

So much quality information in this book. It does start to get a little overwhelming at points but it was helpful for me to focus on a few specific chapters that stood out to me when applying this book to my golf game.

What I’ve been looking for

When I play golf, I get in my own way. In the past, I’ve played very well, and I can still hit the ball well at the range, but if there’s a negative possibility, I’m likely to hit it. I don’t know that these things will change my scores, or at least enjoyment, but it has given me hope, and for now, that’s enough.

PS: One thing that would make the audio book considerably better is to include PDFs of the lists to practice on the course.

Groundbreaking!

A completely different way to think about the great game of golf! The body is such a complex organism there is no way we can “groove” one swing for every shot, variability is the KEY! Loved it can’t wait to read the next book by them!

Hoping this will take me to 0.0 index.

my index has already dropped from 8.6 to 5.1. I'm hoping it will get down to 0.0.
If you don't know what this means, this book will STILL lower the scores you shoot on the golf course.... AND make golfing more enjoyable.... it helps you to enjoy golf and score better. I'm gifting it to EVERY GOLFER I KNOW!

I always joke that I'm a lobotomy from shooting in the 60s on a regular basis. This book is my lobotomy!!!! It's techniques are helping quiet all the voices in my head that get in the way of me enjoying my round and playing to my potential.
