Why would I want to learn all the notes of my fretboard? Over my 25+ year career as a musician and guitar teacher, I have come across many guitarists who cannot name all the frets on the fretboard. Learning the guitar or music theory for that matter, with no knowledge of the basic fundamental organization of the fretboard is a bit like trying to learn to swim without getting into the water.

Do you need to be able to read music to play guitar? These are some of the first questions I’m usually asked as a guitar teacher. Over my 25+ year career as a musician and guitar teacher, I have come across many guitarists who cannot read a single note of music or tell you a major triad from a min7flat5 chord. In fact, I think it’s one of the most hotly debated topics in guitar playing circles anywhere around the world, certainly in the online space. I say relax! Which person is a better player? That’s a 100 percent subjective judgement, and it’s not for me to decide.

A riveting saga in the history of rock ‘n’ roll: the decades-long rivalry between the two men who innovated the electric guitar’s amplified sound - Leo Fender and Les Paul - and their intense competition to convince rock stars like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton to play the instruments they built.

Historia
For generations the electric guitar has been an international symbol of freedom, danger, rebellion, and hedonism. In Play It Loud, Brad Tolinski and Alan di Perna bring the history of this iconic instrument to roaring life. It's a story of inventors and iconoclasts, of scam artists, prodigies, and mythologizers as varied and original as the instruments they spawned. Play It Loud uses 12 landmark guitars - each of them artistic milestones in their own right - to illustrate the conflict and passion the instruments have inspired.

Where does learning begin and how is it sustained and stored in the brain? For musicians, these questions are at the very core of their creative lives. Cognitive and neuroscience have flung wide the doors of our understanding, but bridging the gap between research data and music-making requires a unique immersion in both worlds. Lynn Helding presents a symphony of discoveries that illuminate how musicians can optimize their mental well-being and cognitive abilities.

Playing music should be as simple and natural as drawing a breath, yet most musicians are hindered by self-consciousness, apprehension, self-doubt, and stress. Before we can truly express our inner self, we must first learn to be at peace and overcome the distractions that can make performance difficult. Kenny's remarkable work deals directly with these hindrances, and presents ways to let our natural creative powers flow freely with minimal stress and effort.

Surprisingly effective
I was skeptical that I would gain any benefit from doing a hypnosis series, to help my guitar playing. Imagine my surprise when I started noticing results immediately after the first time listening through it while sleeping.
I woke up, feeling much more rested and energetic than I normally do (which has remained true every night I have listened to it.) I was worried I would feel great in the morning and crash sometime in the afternoon because I got about 2 hours less sleep than I normally do, but the crash never came. I was alert and awake, all day. I even commented to my family, how good I felt.
As for my Guitar playing... I have been playing guitar for a number of years, but only really got serious about it two years ago, and play 1-2 hours a day. I noticed myself hitting a plateau and wanted something to help break me through, and help get me to the next level.
This hasn’t done that.... but, I have noticed an intense desire to pick up my guitar more, and practice. The last few days I have played closer to 3-4 four hours. (I have no life.) and have felt more focused, and have noticed I am picking up new material and applying to my understanding of the fretboard, faster.
So, I would highly recommend this to anyone, just based on the awesome/restful sleep I’ve been getting, but it has also helped me focus during practice sessions more, which is awesome too!

relaxing, sublime.
relaxing, sublime.
I fell to sleep while listening the first three rounds, not sure at all if I had gained a benefit outside of being completely relaxed.
I did relise later that I had a real hunger to play my guitar 🎸and I attacked the time spent with focus and clarity!
BOOM! fantastic.

This Books healing on all levels.
I've had pains in my side for months that periodically happen. These can go on for hours. bit I've found that taking a hot shower and listening to this helped to rid me of those pains and feel alot better. I got this for guitar and now I'm realizing that this book is FAR more than than. It's helps you heal your mind, body and soul. So far the best purchase I've made was getting this book, finding a quiet place to listen to it and giving it a chance to help me.

Nope!
It doesn't have anything to do with guitars and sounds homemade. I gave it a chance, but that was a waist of time.
