Overcoming fear is not about getting rid of everything scary in your life. Living life without fear is not about locking out emotions so that you don't feel fear. It isn't even about tricking your mind into believing there is nothing to be afraid of. So what is it about? Some of us deal with the fear of something to the point it becomes a phobia. Others of us accept our fear as a normal part of life, not realizing how much it is holding us back from a better life. The list of potential things to fear is long. We fear the unknown. We fear failure - whatever that looks like. We fear embarrassment. We fear loss of valuables, from family and health to possessions and security. And the list continues. The author makes a case that God did not intend for us to live in the grip of fear, but for us to live free from life-controlling fear. Can you even imagine what that would be like? The Bible is full of examples of people who overcame fear, or who were overcome by fear and what happened to them because of it. God gave us their stories so that we could learn - from history! It is easier said than done, but overcoming fear may not be as difficult or next-to-impossible as it seems. The secret to overcoming fear is in the Bible and beautifully conveyed in this book.
