Publisher's summary

He's going to fall in love, hard. She has a chip on her shoulder that might keep them apart.

Maggie Angel accepts a chance of a lifetime when her aunt offers her the family’s dilapidated Bayou Cottage in the swamp at Cypress Cove. It’s the perfect place to run away to after her heart's been broken.

The first night while she’s down at the road to lock the gate, a hunky guy on horseback steps out of the woods, but Maggie doesn’t recognize him. Turns out they were childhood playmates long ago during winter visits to her grandparents’ cottage.

Justin Chastain, local vet and wild horse advocate, heard through the grapevine that Maggie had returned to Cypress Cove and wanted to see her for himself. But he didn’t know that she was hiding from a failed marriage, leaving her with a big chip on her shoulder. It remains to be seen if she can ever trust again.

The chemistry Maggie senses fluctuates between lukewarm and molten, but for Justin, it’s constant, and he’s falling in love, hard.

Then he unintentionally commits a blunder that Maggie will struggle to forgive, and they have to start all over again. Is there another chance at love for Maggie Angel?

A Good Contemporary Story

I found this first book in the "Cypress Cove" series easy to read. Suzanne Jenkins skill with words created a picture of the place and animals in my imagination. The issue that I have with the story was that many of the details about the people were glossed over or not really explained. Since this book was the beginning of the series, it is possible that some of the details will be explained in future books. I liked the story well enough that I would be interested in the next one. Marnye Young's narration was fine. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Sexy, steamy story about a sudden divorcee

Maggie wants to escape people after a difficult situation, ending in divorce. Her aunt offers an isolated cabin, that is in need of TLC. Some people remember her from her childhood, when she spent time at the cabin with her aunt.

People keep showing up at her locked gate, including Justin Chastain, a sexy veterinarian in town. A few other men are interested in her, but Maggie develops a severe case of the hots for Justin. He has plans for her and her place. Someone else appears to be watching the cottage and Maggie. But who can it be and what to they want.

This is a well written book, with great dialog. I listened to the audio version and I thought the narrator did a top notch job. She developed voices for all the characters, including accents. I recommend this book for mature readers because of some of the topics raised in the book, and some hot sex scenes.

I was provided with a copy of the audio by the author. This is my honest review.

A great story!

I really enjoyed this audiobook production! Ms. Jenkins and Marnye Young make a great team! Bayou Cottage sounds like a wonderful place to live and the people who live there reminds you of a small village. Everyone is needed for the different jobs that are required for a small place to survive and they thrive off of knowing each others business! After a disappointment and then an amazing gift our main character moves into Bayou Cottage and her life becomes more busy than it ever has been. This is a sweet story with laughs and heartache that totally kept my attention.
