Publisher's summary

Would you commit a murder if no one was watching?

Congress can’t pass a budget, and Biscayne National Park is paying the price. With Special Agent Kurt Hunter out of work, two rivals gangs start a turf war in the park. But when a body is found hanging from the railing of the iconic Boca Chita Lighthouse, Kurt refuses to sit back and fish while the gangs take over his park.

Lies and deceit run rampant through the gangs forcing Kurt deep into the labyrinth of Miami’s counterculture to solve the murder.

my favorite so far

I really loved this book the best. The characters have found their stride and work well together. It was interesting having a MC involved in this mystery. Hunter is working under the shadow of a government shutdown which will affect his paycheck but he also knows that can leave a void for unsavory characters to fill. Justine and Kurt are getting to know each other better. I usually roll my eyes at romance angles but it's very well done and merges with the action seamlessly. I actually find myself interested in how things turn out for these two.

Steven Becker's story telling is definitely at it's best here. If I had one complaint, it would be the length. The books need to be longer Mr. Becker!!

The voice acting by Paul J. McSorley is very well done and pairs well with an action adventure. One thing I noticed this time around was, you can't tell who the bad guy is going to be. McSorley doesn't make the bad guys sound like villains which helps draw out the suspense. His choice of accent and voice for each character stays consistent throughout all the books in the series.

I give this mystery series five stars and recommend it for anyone looking for a new author.

I loved it!

Steven Becker brought another adventure to life for Kurt Hunter. Kurt has a panache for finding dead bodies and getting into trouble with his boss Martinez. The vivid imagery and awesome suspense are present in this book along with familiar characters. I thought it was genius of the author to include MC into the story. Things are not all as they appear. Paul J McSorley is the perfect voice for this series. He adds the right emotions and tension were needed. This book is a standalone listen and part of a series. I cannot wait for the next adventure. The author and narrator are absolutely wonderful to listen to.

Another good book in the series

Steven Becker does a great job at painting a picture in his stories. I’ve enjoyed the direction of this series and this book met my expectations. On top of that Paul McSorley brings the characters to life by giving them a voice. He does good enough of a job that I know who the character is by the voice, which can be an issue I’ve seen with other narrators. Great job all around!

This is the best, so far!

I have read books 1-4 so far and I've loved them all. I think this book, is by far, my favorite one. The characters are very well developed and with the time Kurt Hunter has spent with his peers, the relationships have developed, as well. This story line is, unfortunately, something that could well (and probably has) happened and is fully believable. I'm enjoying this author very much. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and Paul McSorley continues to be perfect for the narration of Kurt Hunter. I love the timber of his voice, but his ability to make you feel what the characters are feeling is a talent worth listening to.
I enjoyed this book so much, I had it started and finished in just 2 days. Sad for me, since I seriously need more!

Adventures galore in the park

This book starts with the actions of a drug ring and the the main character (Kurt) is forced to get involved to exposed an FBI double agent. The gang's arms traffic is being used by the double agent to smuggle drugs within the same shipment.

Kurt is also in the process of teaching his daughter to dive in the islands off Miami after he gains custody. He also becomes involved with a local lab tech and trying to begin life over again after his divorce.

The excitement is full bore and the scenes described are very believable. The narrator does a very good job of portraying the various characters in an understandable manner and they show great emotion.

I was provided this book free of charge with the expectation of an honest review.

Ammo, Bikers, Cops - The ABCs of Kurt Hunter

Bikers overrun the park during a government shutdown and Park Service Special Agent Kurt Hunter has to determine who is friend or foe during an investigation that could railway get an undercover agent killed. Lots of twists and turns in this mystery for Hunter as he reunites with his estranged daughter and tightens the bond with his new love interest, Justine. Another great book with like-able characters and a solid storyline. The audible performance is spot on and a great story no matter how it’s consumed!

This series gets better and better

The latest Kurt Hunter mystery does not disappoint. This case is interesting, has unexpected twists, and includes more interagency cooperation. Kurt's personal life continues to evolve as well. This is a quick, easy read and the narration is excellent!
