Publisher's summary

“Raw emotion, nonstop action, and relentless pacing makes Backlash another one-night read from Brad Thor, who delivers the book to beat in 2019.” (The Real Book Spy)

Number one New York Times, number one Wall Street Journal, and number one Publishers Weekly best-selling author Brad Thor is back with his most gripping thriller yet!

In ancient texts, there are stories about men who struck from the shadows, seemingly beyond the reach of death itself. These men were considered part angel, part demon. Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back.

They were fearless; men of honor who have been known throughout history by different names: Spartan, Viking, Samurai.

Today, men like these still strike from the shadows. They are highly prized intelligence agents, military operatives, and assassins.

One man is all three.

Two days ago, that man was crossed - badly.

Now, far from home and surrounded by his enemy, Scot Harvath must battle his way out.

With no support, no cavalry coming, and no one even aware of where he is, it will take everything he has ever learned to survive.

But survival isn’t enough. Harvath wants revenge.

In the most explosive novel Brad Thor has ever written, minute after captivating minute of action, intrigue, loyalty, and betrayal will keep you hooked until the very last sentence.

Sensational!!!

I must agree with Wayne (Matthews, NC). I downloaded this book the minute I woke up this morning and unfortunately am down to the last two hours. This book is without a doubt one of the best in this series. As a general rule I really don't like to draw comparisons between authors but with this book Brad Thor has upped his game and put himself in a higher category with other authors of the same genre (who I had previously thought of as better). I sure hope this continues and can't wait for the next!

Worth getting up early to download!

BACKLASH, the 19th novel in Brad Thor's Scot Harvath series, is among the best and likely the most suspenseful since The Lions of Lucerne. Armand Schultz narrates superbly as usual. Recommended!

Freaking Awesome Book!

Let me begin by saying that I have read/listened to a lot of different books by authors in this same category. Like Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series, Alex Berenson's John Wells series, Brad Thor's Scot Harvath and a few others. Out of the 3 that I have listed, I re-listen/re-read all 3 of their books every year before the next book comes out. I have done this for the past 5 years.

I will have to say, out of all the books that I have read from these awesome authors, Backlash is by far the BEST book that I have EVER listened to or read, period!

I am not going to ruin the book for anyone but I will tell you that this book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end! Way to go Brad Thor. You always do an awesome job on the Scot Harvath books but on Backlash you took it to the next level and it was freaking AMAZING!

WASTE OF TIME! TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!

what a ridiculous waste of time! what is it with these authors that just write these lazy books? the last Jack Ryan jr. Buck was the same way, Jack Ryan jr. struggling up some stupid Mountain for half of the book. and this one Scot harvath is stuck out in the snow for the entire book! who cares? I could have easily written this book. it's just nine hours of Scot harvath walking through snow and then getting attacked by wolves and then getting attacked by Wolves again and then getting saved and then getting kidnapped and then getting saved. no real story no real plot just a ridiculous money grab by Brad Thor! I won't buy another Scot harvath book and I'm returning this one!

Scott Free

Seemed clunky. Start was disjointed and tried in vain to recover but never could. Too bad I love SH.

Blah

highly predictable and not really believable. The way this author writes you're never in fear that the main character will die

Mindless A to B Action Story with Painful Writing

Perhaps it was my mistake in making this the first of the series I listened to, but this was a struggle to finish. If you like mindless, A to B action stories, with juvenile writing, formulaic structure, and amazingly monolithic characters who seem to have been pulled from a bad 80s movie, then this book is for you. There was zero suspense, no twists, not even a chance that anything bad might happen to any of the good guys, and the writing has been dumbed down to the lowest of all possible denominators. The writing will be particularly painful if you have listened to anything lately with any sense of literary style. Unless the other books in the series are significantly better, I have no idea how these have sold well enough for there to be 19 books in the series.

Running out of plots

Armand Schultz great as usual...plot elements were just a bit too contrived and predictable. I think
Scot Harvath needs to really retire.
