Publisher's summary

Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity.

But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me.

Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. She’s willed me the keys to a house in the burbs of all places and dared me to grab life by the family jewels. Well, I’ve got the vise grips already in hand (my ex should take note), and I’m ready to fight for my life again.

Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

There are 47 separate HOA violations, and I feel them all in my bones. Honestly, I’m surprised no one’s “accidentally” torched the house yet. I want to, and I’ve only been standing in front of it for five minutes. But then, my grumpy neighbor tells me to mow the lawn first and I’m just...done. Done with men too sexy for their own good and done with anyone telling me what to do.

First rule of surviving the burbs? There is nothing that YouTube and a glass of wine can’t conquer. Well, unless it’s your hot neighbor.

Great narrator!

This story was lighthearted, empowering romcom, and just had me laughing out loud. It was brilliant how the narrator, Sophie Amoss, read and made me forget I was listening. Felt more like a juicy conversation I was eavesdropping in on.

very enjoyable!

I quite enjoyed this book and recommend it. It was a good balance of female personality and steamy scenes. In the beginning I didn't think I'd like Nick but he's a keeper.

I almost finished it. 7 minutes left but gave up

the story was too predictable. I thought the book was ok until she got involved with nick. then the book went downhill. some of the characters seemed egsagerated such as the mother of the main character. someone else described the book as syrupy. I agree. I won't return it tho as I almost finished it. It was deal of the day anyway.

Pretty cute👍🏾

Light and fun. I wish Nicks Mom was in the story a lot more than the few paragraphs she had, she deserves to be the lead in her own novel 😊
Enjoyable. I often need break from my typical supernatural/horror/sci-fi genre, and this was just right.

Mental See-Saw Much?

I can say it made me laugh quite a bit on several points, so that made up for the fact that she acts insane at times. Where understandable at times, yet ridiculous at others. When she instantly forgets she just acted the exact same way she’s accusing him of doing, and questioning it - like if she could only figure out why he went from amused to cold….and it’s too much for Me personally. I only thought - holy cow, are you mental? You just did that.
In the sense that she has baggage, it’s valid that she would have some trouble in certain situations, but in that instance, I think it’s too much if she’s supposed to be smart and work in a law office. Mind you, we dont always see things about ourselves, and maybe it’s just my trigger, but there’s possibly a better way to show her issues from her former husband. Although - at the start - the Mom defiantly had my gall, not bad for the story, I wanted to punch the mom through the screen lol.
Defiantly a story that will touch several emotions. Ok ending. So over all it’s a funny light hearted story basically. You’ll get a few laughs for sure. Loved the “Lord of the Rings” idea. Lol. And “Star Wars”. Very creative! :).
