Publisher's Summary

Molten chocolate...cinnamon spice...gingerbread...old-fashioned Vanilla... You can't stop at just one. And the women of the Cupcake Club love to indulge....

Kit Bellamy was raised on pie. Mamie Sue's Peanut Pies, to be exact, the family company her scheming brother-in-law sold out from under her. Now Kit needs a new recipe for her life - and sleepy Sugarberry Island is the first ingredient. Running mail-order cupcake business Babycakes is a chance to get her baking on again - until she meets tall, dark, and adorable lawyer Morgan Westlake. New to the island to raise his goddaughter, he's as mouthwatering as any of Kit's creations. It's just her luck that he's the spawn of the very law firm that helped crush her dreams.... Fortunately, Kit's new friends can assure her that Morgan is no typical Westlake - and that even lawyers, not to mention single dads, need romance. If Kit can just be persuaded to follow her appetite - and set another place at her holiday table - her sweetest dreams just might come true....

Lovely story, but narration...

Nice love story, nothing earth-shattering. I normally love Amanda Ronconi. She is a great narrator and I have listened to many of the books she narrated. But this book is something else. Her impression of a five-year-old American girl sounds exactly like my Chinese-born 50-year-old friend. This really threw me off. Hope she doesn’t do it again.

Chapter 2 and might be done.

I’ve listened to the first two books and started this one immediately after fishing book 2. Which at this point is my preferred of the 3 I’ve heard so far. I must be the only one who finds the narrator bad. I wish I didn’t. Book one she attempts a English male accent which nearly had me stop the series there. This one her 5 year old girl voice has me wanting to listen to nails on a chalk board over the lisping child. If the child has an actual lisp mentioned later on in the book I may forgive her. If I get there. I can not rate the story at this point as I’m only 2 chapters in. But if it’s like the last two I’m sure the guys will be overly sappy and the females insecure and neurotic. Romance books are not my normal but got this series on a whim. I normally roll my eyes at books like this. It’s not personal to the author.

Light and Easy Listen

This was a fun, easy listen. Enjoyed the characters and continuation of their stories through the series, but was a little one-note in terms of the story. Any conflict between characters happened in the past and they were working on being together now, so it didn't really play into any story tension so it's climax felt like it fell a little flat, which is sad since this one had the most potential to have something for the characters to come together and fight for. Listened as part of Audible's new Member Benefit Free Listens and enjoyed it, but likely wouldn't have spent money or a credit on it to buy it.

Made for each other

Sweet damaged and very sad people find each other and help each other heal and learn to trust and love again. A little bit contrived, yes. A bit formulaic, yes and an obvious happily ever after too, but what is wrong with that? The narration was wonderful and I am off to download the next in the series!! If you are looking for a nice easy listen that will make you smile than this is absolutely a title for you to download.

Wonderful narration and a mostly good story

Any additional comments?

Enjoyed the characters and most of the story, and especially enjoyed Amanda Ronconi's narration. But I have to say by the last third of the book I got really tired of the main characters over-analyzing everything. All the cupcake club books that I've read so far (1-3) have a similar theme - girl who's been wronged attracts good-looking rich guy, but then rejects him at first while she over-thinks everything about their possible future together. Other than that, the characters and dialog are well done and I did enjoy learning about sea turtles. I liked the book enough that I plan to read the next book in the series too.
