I almost threw my phone across the room.

I a big fan of Josh Lanyon but this story had me so angry I had to take a break from his works. The set up is cute, two long time best friends try to make a go of more but end up over thinking it and screwing everything up. They break up and realize they can't live without each other but don't know how to apologize and forgive so they can live happily ever after. So one of them decides to undertake a grand gesture in hopes of making things right and just as they seem to realize they are better together I get the dreaded "The End". What???? Where is the rest of the book? What happened next? Did they live happily ever after? Ugh, I will never know. Books like this make me hate short stories. I encourage you to read this just be prepared for anger when the twinkling music at the end comes on and tells you the journey is over.

lots of cooking details, sweet romance

More of a sweet romance - little sex - and a reconciliation story. Lots of description of the cooking and decor, which is probably about the gayest thing. Narrator did excellent job distinguishing between the different male characters.

Only thing that may have made it better was for it to turn into a gay Christmas threesome imo.

Lovely

Absolutely loved this! It reminded me more of a Mary Calmes/Greg Tremblay combo, but it was just wonderful. Not Mr. Lanyon's usual crime story but a story about love and second chances. Short and sweet. Packed with emotions. Friends to lovers to ex-lovers to lovers again. Nicely done! Great narration. As usual, Mr. Lanyon found the perfect narrator! Highly recommended. Grab some hot chocolate and snuggle up and enjoy! :-)

Ending too quick, but nice story

Liked the story and setting. The switch from conflict to resolution was one sentence. I almost missed it. Cute ending line.

Awesome Holiday Read

Audiobook Review December 2019:
It's been 5 years since I originally read Baby It's Cold and I loved it just as much now as then. Some might call Rocky and Jesse's story a Hallmark-y rom-com, and not everyone enjoys them and if I'm completely honest I only like a small portion but Baby It's Cold is 10 times better. There's friendship, second chances, bickering, heat, and plenty of heart. As for the narrator, this is the first Michael Ferraiuolo but I hope to listen to many more. His voice makes the story come alive as if it's unfolding right in front of. Brilliant and fun holiday gem.

Original Review December 2014
Not much I can say about poor Rocky and Jesse that won't be a spoiler. Second chances can always be an interesting read because there are so many possibilities and revelations. And Josh Lanyon doesn't disappoint with said possibilities and revelations. It's all wrapped up in a snowstorm, good food, and of course a third party.

Of remembrance past

This short reminds me of those made for television holiday movies. I loved those movies and the hope for Love they bought to my heart. But always wished the romantic leads were men. In Baby, It’s Cold, I got my wish. And I loved the ending. In short, perfection.

Not for me

Didn't really care for the voice the narrator chose to use for rocko.
The story was too much time with the couple fighting and not enough of them being together. I needed more to root for them getting back together.

A second chances holiday short!!

3.5!!! Great holiday short narrated by Michael F about second chances. I loved how this revolves around food and I also loved how the tension built up in this one. Superb and realistic ending with an HFN!

Shorter than I’d like but very sweet

Well written as I would expect from Josh Lanyon and a lovely performance overall. I would have liked more time to get to know the lead characters and see where they’ll go from here but I enjoyed what was on offer.

The bulk of the story takes place over a single snowy evening and things get deliciously awkward (pun intended) when plans for a romantic dinner go awry.
There’s humor and heartache throughout. There’s some sexual innuendo and a bit of light reminiscing but there are no explicit sex scenes.

Michael Ferraiuolo does a nice job performing the story and gives each character an easily recognizable voice. If you liked this then I highly recommend other stories by Josh Lanyon.

I found this as part of the monthly subscription romance package so it didn’t cost me a credit.
