Publisher's Summary

Wouldn't you give up everything for the one you love?

When Ellie's father is taken by a group of thugs planning to take his life in exchange for his debts, it's no surprise she goes running straight into the beast's lair. After all, Ellie Stevens has been her father's keeper for as long as she can remember.

However, Ashland Titon isn't a man of mercy. If you owe, you pay. End of story. His unrelenting control has built his empire, and he's not going to give over that power now. But when Ellie charges into his life with her demands and possibilities of sweet surrender, her offer proves too tempting to pass up.

Yet there's more at play here than just working off a debt. There are secrets buried in the shadows and dangerous desires to be explored. While the two of them dance to a sensual beat, outside forces threaten Ashland's empire, and Ellie must decide where her heart truly lies - and what she's truly willing to risk for love.

Great Retelling of Beauty and the BEAST

This is the first book I have read by Measha Stone, I have gotten a taste of her work before in the BLACK LIGHT Anthologies but this is the first standalone and WOW what a one to start with. This book had everything I hope for in a darker read and the narration really pulled me into the story.

We start off with Ellie's father being beaten and taken away to be dealt with after borrowing money and not paying it back, you see Ellie's father has a bad gambling habit and she is constantly bailing him out only this time he might just pay with his life. But here's the kicker Ellie decides to go straight to the source "The Beast" and talk to Ashland Titon himself, after all he's the one her father owes the money too. Only he owes so much that Ellie has no choice but to sacrifice her life for her fathers, and boy oh boy do things get interesting from here.

Ash is someone many people fear but Ellie has no issue standing up to him which his men find amusing and so did I. This book has some very spicy scenes which I loved but overall I really enjoyed the story of Ellie and Ash finding their way together and overcoming various obstacles that were in their way. The secondary Characters were great as well and Peter's story is up next in a Rapunzel retelling in Tower which I am really looking forward to reading.

If you enjoy Fairy Tale Retelling, Darker Reads, BDSM Romances, or Organized Crime Romances I would recommend this book to you. I would also recommend the audiobook version of this book because the narrator, Smokey St. Clair, did a FANTASTIC job with making me feel as if I was right there as things were unfolding like I was a fly on the wall watching everything happen.

Happy Reading!!!

***While I OWN a Kindle Version of this book I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Measha Stone. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.***

Loved it!

I have a thing for fairy tale retelling - and that thing is exponentially more pronounced when he retelling is a Beauty and the Beast one! I have loved the story (however problematic it might be, sadly) since I was a kid. All I saw was a sweet and smart girl fall in love with someone who thought they shouldn’t be loved.

So, when the opportunity came along to listen to this audiobook, well, I couldn’t help but take advantage! It was a great story mingling the tale of my childhood with the grittiness of being an adult. It takes the story we know well and gives it more twists and turns and, of course, more heat. Anyone who interested in retelling s and grittier adult romances will definitely enjoy this book in any form it is presented.

Was A Naughty Update To A Favorite Fairy Tale

Rating: 4.5 Stars

This is a very adult spin on a classic fairy tale. There are different ways to identify a beast and Mr. St. Clair does a great job in showing Ash's side of that. I wasn't too sure in the beginning if I was going to enjoy listening to him but as the story went on, he made me both a fan of his and of this series. Whenever I want my fairy tale fix, the adult version, I will make sure that this is at the top of my list.

The author has done a great job of getting me to forget the Disney version of this tale. After listening to her take, I'm not so sure that I'll ever think of the Beast as anything else. She's turned Ellie's story around as well - not the white as snow woman that you might normally think of. But that doesn't mean that she's not a little naive about some things. Once she meets Ash, she seems to blossom.

Depending on how much hot you like in your story, this may just short your earbuds out. It's a longer story than some but once I really got into what Mr. St. Clair was telling me, everything seemed to disappear and time meant nothing. That also shows how well the author did on putting her spin on these characters. Even Ellie's father is not what you expect and that shows that the author has made this her own - not trying to copy the original. The author doesn't include smut for smut's sake. Her scenes flow nicely and everything seems plausible. I could picture any of her characters living in any of the big cities. Could see myself walking around that city listening to this book and picturing the scenes as I go by buildings and some of the fancier homes.

Would I listen to this book again? Yes, I would. Would I read the book? That I'm on the fence about since I enjoyed listening to this so much. I also have the next two books on my wish list - especially since they're told by one of my favorite narrators. Would I follow the narrator and author? Yes to both. So, if you like a dark retelling of Beauty and the Beast you just might enjoy it too.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

great book

A new stand alone novel by Measha Stone. It is the story of Ash and Ellie.

Ash is not your typical hero. He is a a bit of a shady type of business, but he does have his own set of morals.. He reminded me of Jax from SOA. Sexy but dangerous. he is not one to mess with or cross

Something that Ellie finds out the hard way. Ellie give herself to safe her father. She is loyal to a fault, stubborn, but with a sensitive heart. She discovers things about herself she never knew. She is able to let herself go with Ash.

They clash, which leads to some very scorching and also funny scene’s.

The story has it twist and turns and not everything is as it seems. It will keep your guessing.

in short. It is a great, well written book with great layered and complex characters.

HORRIBLE!

Is everyone just hard up for BDSM in the comments section? They must be, because thats all this is. I know the male character is suppose to be a beast, but the beast is suppose to be at least likable in the end. I only tried this one because Smokey St. Clair is like the perfect all around narrator always, but even he couldn't fix the actual story. The entire mid of the story is non-stop BDSM, so much so, there's no story behind it. Meaning if your not looking to solely get your "BDSM only" rocks off for 3-4 hours, you could just watch the first hour hours, skip the entire middle and continue at last 2 hours AND NOT MISS OUT ON ANYTHING. Not worth the credit or time. Also, of course this fairytale retelling is so not original by any means, there are so many others that are just as sexy and has an actual interestingly dark spin on Beauty and the Beast without the overly harsh BDSM additions. I mean, 50 shades of Grey was good because it was sexy not cringe worthy and I'm not even close to being a prude. Returned.

Pretty good.

This book was entertaining. Definitely followed the baseline for the original Beauty and the Beast story. Enjoyable. Smokey St. Clair's narration was a bit whiny, and his narration for the other male characters sounded like campy film noir New Yorkers, which was a bit goofy, but didn't kill the book. The next 2 in the series have different narrators so I'm still going to continue.

Kinky Beauty & Beast

If you like kink and alphaholes, you'll like this one. I think this us the first audiobook I've listened to by this author. I enjoyed the book and the sext scenes were pretty hot. There are spankings, whippings and other elements of power exchange throughout this book so if that's not your cup of tea, steer clear. Otherwise enjoy this kinky retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I certainly did.

Tale as old as time

Every time I see a new book out with the premise of my favorite dark fairy tale, I grab it and give it a listen. This one by Measha Stone came highly recommended to me and it did not disappoint. From the opening scene until the very end, it had me drawn in. Ashland is the beast, and he definitely comes across as one. He is the ultimate dominant, alpha male and when Ellie is given to him in exchange for her father's life, we get to see his personality come out. Ellie is not exactly the submissive woman at first. She gives as good as she gets, and Ash does not intimidate her. This Beast gives this Beauty some real love, and some real discipline, so if you do not like BDSM or domestic discipline, this book is not for you. It is written beautifully, very tasteful and gives a little twist to the original tale we are all used to.

Smokey St Clair gives us a performance worthy of the Beast. He has a great alpha inflection, and you know exactly where the Beast stands with his narration. He gives Ellie a good female voice, strong in her convictions and soft in the bedroom. He did a wonderful job.

Waste of time

Unless what you like are books degrading and being cruel to women, then you could just skip this one. Wish I had.

Invigorating

A great story, that you wouldn't believe is happening. The woman is tenacious and funny and defiant which I love. The man is hard, relentless, yet loving. A must read. an interesting insight into a peculiar world!
