Manhunt underway for escaped immigration detainee in Sydney's west

Michael Angok, an immigration detainee convicted of a serious assault against a 14-year-old girl in 2017, escaped custody during a hospital transfer from Villawood Detention Centre to Bankstown Hospital on Wednesday morning. A major manhunt is underway across Sydney's west, involving New South Wales Police, Border Force and the Australian Federal Police. Angok was scheduled to be deported from Australia and is considered a dangerous offender.
