What Happens When We Worry About the Wrong Things

Sometimes we get so caught up arguing about the rules that we miss the miracle right in front of us.

“I do not know whether he is a sinner. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”

— John 9:25

A remarkable miracle had just happened.

A person who had been blind from birth could now see.

It was something no one had ever witnessed before.

A moment that could have been filled with awe, gratitude, and celebration.

But instead, many of the religious leaders began arguing.

They debated whether Jesus had broken the rules by healing on the Sabbath.

They questioned his authority.

They searched for someone to blame.

In the middle of all the arguments stood the person whose life had been changed.

He did not claim to understand everything about Jesus.

He did not pretend to have all the answers.

He simply spoke the truth of his experience.

“Though I was blind, now I see.”

Sometimes faith begins there.

Not with perfect explanations or winning arguments,

but with the recognition of the good that God has done.

And perhaps the deeper invitation for us is this:

Not to become so caught up in being right

that we miss the good unfolding right in front of us.
