Psalm of the Tear: Book II, Room 316.

Written by Joshua Bish, Narrated by Ashen Morire.

Some rooms don’t just hold memories. They keep secrets buried alive.

Campus police officer Steven Kent thought he had seen the worst Concord University had to offer—until a missing student's case led him to Room 316. The room is quiet. Too quiet. No sounds. No heat. No trace. Just the lingering scent of something wrong.

As more students vanish and reports of strange happenings escalate, Kent begins to uncover a terrifying legacy hidden within the bricks of Sarvey Hall. The deeper he digs, the more the room fights back—twisting reality, unearthing traumas, and drawing him toward something ancient, watching, and hungry.

With no one else willing to believe him, Kent must confront the darkness creeping through the halls before Room 316 claims him too.

Room 316 is the second audiobook in the critically chilling Psalms of the Tear series. With haunting narration by Ashen Morire, this installment descends into a mystery where horror bleeds through the walls, and even silence can scream.

This was a solid story to listen to while working. It is short, so you get the whole mystery in a few hours. The campus setting makes it feel very close and real. I liked how the story focused on the creepy room more than anything else. It is not a super complex mystery, but it is very effective at making you feel uneasy. The cop character is nice and normal, which I appreciated. If you want a quick, spooky story for a commute, this one is a great choice. I enjoyed it a lot.

A nice quick listen

I've read both of the books in the Psalm of the Tear series. Both are dark and disturbing. Room 316 is fast paced and can be read independently from Book 1. If you like psychological thrillers, you'll appreciate this book. For those wanting pure gore, there's not as much here. Towards the book's end, things became a bit predictable for me. I would have appreciated a few more plot twists which is why I gave it a 4 for story. The narration was excellent.

I'm interested to see where Bish takes Book 3. Hope to know soon.

Room 316 has a strong concept right from the start. A campus police officer investigating disappearances tied to a single room that seems to distort reality is the kind of setup that immediately pulls you in. The atmosphere is easily the strongest part of this installment. The quiet tension, the sense that something is watching, and the idea of a space that holds more than memories create genuine unease.

Steven Kent works well as a grounded lead. His skepticism mixed with growing dread gives the story a steady anchor as things become more unsettling. The mystery surrounding the university and the room’s history unfolds at a measured pace, which helps build suspense.

The story was not bad overall. It keeps your attention and has moments that land effectively. I did feel there was room to deepen certain emotional beats or sharpen the horror elements to make the impact stronger.

The narration was okay. It carried the tone of the story without being distracting, though it did not fully elevate the tension in the way a more dynamic performance might have.

For listeners who enjoy campus horror with a creeping, slow burn feel, this installment offers a solid, eerie experience with a premise that has real potential.

This sounds tense and atmospheric. The campus setting makes the horror feel close and believable. Room 316 feels alive, which is genuinely unsettling. I like the psychological angle and slow-burn mystery. A few phrases feel familiar, but overall it’s creepy, gripping, and perfect for an immersive audiobook experience.

This story builds tension in a way that creeps under your skin rather than relying on quick scares. The atmosphere feels heavy and immersive, making the mystery unfold in a way that keeps you guessing. The narration adds an extra layer of unease that pulls you deeper into the experience. It’s the kind of listen that lingers with you even after it ends.
