בהמשך למ"ת מתחילה התורה דוקא עם "משפטים" – דברים המובנים עפ"י שכל, כיון שבשעת מ"ת היתה קבלת התורה באופן ד"חוקים" – למע' מגדרי השכל והעולם, והחידוש לאח"ז הוא משפטים – להביא את הענינים גם בגדרי השכל והעולם. ולכן גם בענין האחדות ישראל שהי' במ"ת לא הי' חידוש, דבענין ה"חוקים" כולם שווים ומלכתחילה לא שייך ענין של היפך השלום, ותכלית השלימות באחדות ישראל היא, כשגם בעניני שכל – "משפטים", ש"אין דעותיהם שוות", מתאחדים!

Synopsis

At Matan Torah the Jewish people accepted the Torah in a manner of Chukim (which transcend the bounds of intellect and the bounds of the world), but immediately afterward comes the Mishpatim, which are understood logically, because the novelty is to incorporate the Torah within the framework of intellect and the framework of the world. Therefore, it is no wonder that the Jewish people were united at Matan Torah, because when it comes to Chukim, all are equal, so there is no room for the absence of peace to begin with. But the ultimate perfection of Jewish unity is when the Jewish people are united even in their intellect (Mishpatim), where “their minds are not alike.”
