Day 6 UNLEASHED FOR MISSION! Boldly Stand for Christ and Follow Him Fully
WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT IS UNLEASHED IT GIVES BOLDNESS IN MISSION
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Ephesians 6:18-20
, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
THE HOLY SPIRIT TRANSFORMED PETER AND THE OTHER DISCIPLES FROM COWARDS TO CAMPIONS AND EVEN MARTYRS FOR THE GOSPEL
1 Samuel 10:6
“The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.”
Acts 2:1-4
“When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
They (the Priests and Rulers) had thought to find the apostles cowed with fear under the strong hand of oppression and murder, but they find them lifted above all fear and filled with the Spirit, proclaiming with power the divinity of Jesus of Nazareth. They hear them declaring with boldness that the One so recently humiliated, derided, smitten by cruel hands, and crucified, is the Prince of life, now exalted to the right hand of God. (The Acts of the Apostles, p. 42)
Acts 2:14
“But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.”
Strengthened by the endowment of the Holy Spirit, they went forth filled with zeal to extend the triumphs of the cross. The Spirit animated them and spoke through them. The peace of Christ shone from their faces. They had consecrated their lives to Him for service, and their very features bore evidence to the surrender they had made. (The Acts of the Apostles, p. 46)
Acts 4:8-12
“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders, if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.””
Acts 4:13-14
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition.”
WHENEVER THE HOLY SPIRIT IS UNLEASHED THE BELIEVERS ARE UNLEASHED TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL WITH BOLDNESS
Acts 4:29-31
“And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.”
