Given the heavy, heavy nature of the Union of Swords books, it's nice to have these lighthearted tidbits as a reminder that these guys aren't getting grievously injured ALL the time.

My thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of this audiobook.

I really love these two and any chance to come back to them I jump for. Hazard is as grumpy as ever and Somers does a great job of keeping him from being too serious. Love seeing insights into their honeymoon and the last story is the perfect set up for the next series. LOVE IT. Tristan James is the perfect Hazard voice. He does such an amazing job. I would have liked a little bit of a pause between the stories but all in all it was fabulous!

Love Hazard and Somers

This collection is my favorite of all of Gregory Ashe's short story collections for two reasons. First, Santa: A Cultural Hegemony sums up the relationship between Hazard and Somerset quite beautifully. The Hazard and Somerset books are mystery/suspense/thrillers, so not all of the romantic moments between Emery and John Henry make the cut in the core books. This short story reveals the inner workings of their relationship and reflects why they fit as a couple. Listening to John Henry skillfully redirect Emery's inner grouch is entertaining, but listening to the proof that Evie, Somerset's daughter, has Emery completely in her thrall is delightful. Second is the last story in this book, Hazard and Somerset: Off Duty. I was surprised the first time I read the story. I am not easily shocked with mysteries anymore, but this tidbit gave me back the thrill of anticipation for the next series. Tristan James's narration had me gasping even though I already knew what was coming. James has just the right tone and inflection as he voices John Henry's inner realization.

If you have read the Union of Swords series in the Hazard and Somerset saga, don't skip the short stories. Listen to this one! You will be just as surprised as Hazard is...

My favorite of Ashe's shorts collections.

If you love the series, you will, of course, love this audiobook. These little between stories always make me want to go read the books again. I hate to leave Emery and Sommers whenever the books are finished so these snapshots into their lives make me love this author so much!

Love these!

This is a collection of short stories from the Hazard and Somerset, Union of Swords series. This is not a standalone, but it for fans who have already read/listen to the Union of Swords series. I loved these little slices of life short stories. They start with JH being auctioned off to raise money for a charity. You can imagine how well this goes down with Hazard. It’s really fun. It gets better from there. Hazard planning the perfect birthday party; Thanksgiving & Christmas antics; their honeymoon; and lots more. Although these are short, they still manage to convey the love and humor of the guys, while fleshing out some “other” relationships which are not so lovey. And having Tristan James’ narrate is wonderful. Highly recommended for fans of the series.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.
