This past week Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth boldly proclaimed that the US Military will now disregard the rules of war so that the war fighter can do what he is trained to do...kill and win. For many Americans these comments were about returning to a strong military that seeks to win. The truth is very different. The United States is bankrupt. We are no longer the world's primary super power. We are also in a moment of massive economic and cultural change. Hegseth's comments were a warning to the world to not attack, as we retract from our global footprint and assume our new diminished position as part of a multi-polar world.
