Laugh and romance in one great story

A couple of chapters into the story and I was sold! I couldn’t stop listening to Wyeth Watts and Verla Bond bringing to life Sophie and Nick. This is my first Danika Bloom book and I really enjoyed it. The story was really good. Lots of laughs and romance too. Love the plot the whole inheritance thing and the family, blood and not blood related. I love Nick siblings too. I really enjoyed listening to their romance and how they fell in love. Love Sophie, she is amazing and determined. Nick was so far in love with her, I love how he did everything thinking of her. Their happily ever after? perfect. Great story.

So Sexy

First In: Cheeky with the Fire Chief is a sweet bickering romance. Sophie and Nick are cute when bickering, I liked listening to it. But when they got along it was pretty delicious. I immediately liked both Sophie and Nick. I ate up this audiobook from the beginning. The first date they had was hilarious and sexy. Them living together was just sad. The misunderstanding was frustrating, also Sophie's family is in need of a slap. The family secret being revealed was an OMG moment. Wyeth Watts & Verla Bond did a perfect job bringing the characters to life and this whole world.

Sophie and Nick

The narrators did a good job. I enjoyed this Sophie is past up for fire chief and Nick was given the position. At first they meet at an accident as Nick was on his way for an interview and Sophie's crew answers. She doesn't know who he is at first. I enjoyed listening to this story not only do you get their relationship you also get what Sophie is going through with her relationship with her family after the Patriarch past, secrets revealed. Nick and his family life. Another firefighter and what he is going through. Cleaning the firehouse and the politics with the choices made with the volunteers. Can't wait to listen to more from this series.

Adorable story!

Adorable little story! I really enjoyed these two! Sophie really had it all going for her then everything fell apart. Her story is heartfelt and had me feeling for her. Nick fell into a lucky break but then it turned out to be not what he wanted. This is filled with amazing characters and made me smile fore than once. Everything comes together in the end which is wonderfully done.

Verla Bond and Wyeth Watt are the narrators. They both do an amazing job and are pleasant to listen to

Fantastic emotional book!

Absolutely love this book. The narrators Wyeth Watts and Verla Bonds performance is fantastic. They truly brought these characters to life for me. I am a huge fan of Danika Bloom and this book is a perfect example of why. She really ropes you in and makes you fall in love with the characters. Sophie and Nick first meet is anything but magical yet there is that draw. These two have to navigate so many of life's challenges to get their well deserved hea. This is a well-written, heartfelt romance full of loss, love and lots of heat. Love all the characters and the emotional roller-coaster of Sophie and Nick's journey. 5 star must read or listen.

A Fiery Romance

I was entertained by this romance between Sophie and Nick. I understood Sophie's disappointment when Nick was given the position that she wanted. I enjoyed this story which had a woman working in a field which has been traditionally a man's job. I appreciated the moments of humor. There were some steamy descriptive scenes included in the tale. I thought the dual narrations provided by Wyeth Watts and Verla Bond enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Great Story & Narration🎧Enthralling & Heartfelt!

My first Danika Bloom book, and I enjoyed everything about it, from her wonderful writing style to the fabulous characters and storylines she created, to the perfectly cast narrators, who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. The first book of the “Mixed Six-Pack” series, a series of standalone romance novels, is Nick West and Sophie Beaulieu’s story, a fabulous story and start to the series. Nick, a career firefighter looking to advance his career, takes a paid chief position in a small-town volunteer fire department. Sophie is one of those volunteers and was a candidate for the chief position, and thought she was a shoo-in. Sophie really needs the job, after giving up everything to take care of her ailing father, and now that he is gone, her greedy siblings want her out of the family home so they can sell it. Her father never updated his will after she was born, and her siblings do not plan to include her in any inheritance. She and Nick clicked the moment they met, and the two had a steamy encounter, not knowing she was not getting the job, or that she was hanging out with the newly hired Chief, and she was not happy about either when she found out. This leads up to an enemies-to-lovers romance, but the chemistry between them is electric and too strong to ignore, plus they work well together and make a great team at work. There is a lot going on in this book, and there is never a dull moment, and is a multi-layered story with family drama, workplace drama and relationship drama, a touch of angst, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Danika Bloom, thank you for this fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧    Verla Bond and Wyeth Watts did a fantastic job voicing these characters, and I loved how they took each role and owned it, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Bond nailed it as Sophie, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her fierceness to her insecurities and all in between. Watts did the same as Nick and was just fabulous in the role, showcasing his personality perfectly. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary/side characters, too. They set the ideal tone for the story, expressed all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. This duo is a great team, with voices and talent that complement each other, and a performance that enthralls you. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

Nick & Sophie will make you fall in LOVE!

This was the first audiobook I have listened to by Danika Bloom and I'm addicted! Nick & Sophie were so much fun and I fell in LOVE with their characters from the beginning. If I wasn't busy I could have listened to this book in one sitting because I didn't want to stop listening. I was drawn in from the start and I didn't want this book to end.

Nick and Sophie end up meeting when he comes up to an accident on his way to an interview. They hit it off perfectly at the scene of the accident but little does she know that Nick's interview is for the Fire Chief position she wants. He ends up getting that job and she's not happy. But he wants her to be next to him and makes her Director. These two work so well together and they have such great chemistry!! Will they be able to keep it professional or will it turn into more?

Sophie is down on her luck. She's spent the last few years taking care of her dad and now that he's passed away all her sibling’s want her to move out of the house. So not only did she not get the paying position at work, she also has to find a place to live. Thankfully she has Nick and Murray to help her through this mess.

This story will make you mad at times when it comes to her family. You will feel some emotions, you will swoon like CRAZY with Nick, smile like a fool, LOL, get choked up in a few parts and then you will be left with an INCREDIBLE ending!!! I just LOVE this book so much and I hope you grab a cup of your favorite beverage and this book! You won't be disappointed. I HIGHLY recommend this book and look forward to the next book in this series!

Tops narration of an enjoyable romance…

Thanks to two wonderful narrators, I ate this romance up! The story was good, and while there are parts that I think could’ve been better developed, the characters were appealing and the performances really brought them to life for me. Wyeth Watts and Verla Bond are new to me narrators, so this was a fun Introduction to two performers that I look forward to hearing more from in the future. Watts was a great Nick; hitting the humor and affability, but also able to make even the MMC’s less admirable qualities tolerable (the character can be a bit sexist at times). Bond was the ideal narrator match for Sophie. The FMC (and her dog!) were the standouts of the story for me and Bond’s performance gave all the heart and pathos that a listener could hope for!

This was also my first Danika Bloom book and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the characters and the setting, but some key plot elements felt a bit hand-waved away. A lot of the FMC’s arc stems from dealing with her family drama, but she never really gets to confront it in a satisfying way. I couldn’t help but want a more personal confrontation between her and her family me,beta (one in particular, but no spoilers!) that wasn’t just handled by lawyers. It was a little narratively unsatisfying. Still the MCs’ romantic connection was good. I liked that my expectations were somewhat subverted, and how despite getting off on the wrong foot this wasn’t about her sabotaging him because she didn’t get the job. Sophie in particular showed real maturity by stopping to think about how her going at Nick would negatively impact the community. It spoke greatly to her character. And I appreciated how they were able make things happen for the better at the firehouse rather than being hindered by the stereotypical “I’m going to make your life hell because I didn’t get what I wanted” approach. If only the miscommunication trope was as well handled in their romantic relationship! There were times I wanted to knock their heads together for not communicating with each other as lovers as well as they did as colleagues.

Overall, I really enjoyed the listening experience. I feel like if I had read this book, I would have been more frustrated with it, but the performers were just so endearing that they were able to smooth over some of the story’s rougher edges.

First In: Cheeky with the Fire Chief is book #1 in The Mixed Six-Pack series. This is my first listen by the author and I really enjoyed the story. The characters are real working people, not uber-rich, and very relatable. Sophie is tiny, but mighty in that she has earned the respect of her volunteer firefighter peers, and she's fighting for her childhood home against her greedy siblings. Nick has always felt like the "throw-away" son, never measuring up to his father's expectations, but has a good relationship with his half-brothers. These two have instant chemistry, but fear of commitment and a misunderstood conversation lead them both to distance themselves from each other. This first responder, enemies-to-lovers, found family, steamy romance will melt your heart and put a smile on your face. Can't wait for the rest of the brother's stories.

The dual narration is fantastic! Wyeth Watts is a new narrator to me and I was very impressed with his performance. He gave us the #sexyfirefighter Nick that is a bit cocky, but dreamy as well. Verla Bond is a favorite narrator of mine, so I knew something amazing was in store. This duo is 5 steamy stars!!
