A Faith-Filled, Tender and Heartwarming Friends to More Love Story
What happens when an entire town becomes involved in a matchmaking scheme? Evaline doesn’t know what to think when her mother volunteers her for the Bible club helper position. What she does know, however, is that she is most unimpressed when Henry Gregory, the Bible club leader, mistakes her for one of the participants. Who knew a quiet man of faith could have such an ornery streak?
Henry never met anyone quite like Evaline Browning. The petite librarian volunteering as a Bible club helper is a lot of spunk in a small package. But the more he’s around her, the more he fears he’ll lose his heart. Could this be the woman God has planned for him?
Soon, Evaline and Henry find themselves caught in a matchmaking endeavor. Polls, well-meaning gossips, and more shenanigans ensue as the residents of Chokecherry Heights do their best to convince Evaline and Henry they’d make the perfect couple.

Evaline and Henry’s romance is so cute. Young people working for God and getting to know each other. The little ladies in the church love to play matchmaking plus the whole town really! Henry tries to get his courage up just to ask Evaline out. I think he was so sweet.
I loved all the characters, from the eldest people to Evaline’s younger sister. Everyone was trying to be helpful.
Try this sweet little novella. I think you will enjoy.

I found myself rooting for the budding romance between Evaline and Henry, and when the story came to an end, I was fully entertained and uplifted by the unmistakable thread of faith that weaved these young people together.
Audio Narration: As a southern girl myself, I appreciated the audiobook’s southern flavor. Vicky Livestay, the narrator, has a thick drawl that initially feels a bit dramatic, but is sweet and genuine and immerses you in the charming small-town atmosphere.
I read book two of this series prior to reading this one, but they each work wonderfully as standalones. Don’t miss book 2, Love Under Construction! Also set in Chokecherry Heights, the enchanting enemies-to-more story offers loads of depth, renovating homes, lives, and hearts.

The audiobook narration by Vicky Livesay makes this story sparkle even brighter. She delivers with personality in every line … effortless humor that is natural, warmth that reaches the heart, and fun that makes each character unforgettable. Every scene is carried with such skill and delight that listening becomes an experience in itself.
Evaline shines with her bookish spirit, Henry with his steady faith, and the surrounding cast … from mischievous siblings to a bubble-gum-sneaking great-grandmother … pours joy and flavor into every page like a tall glass of cherry coke. Together they create a story that is humorous, tender, and deeply faith-filled.
Faith is the thread woven through it all. Prayer and trust in God’s guidance are never far from the surface, reminding us that He is present in both laughter and love.
This is a short, sweet romance and it is a heartwarming reminder of God’s hand in the details, delivered with humor that lifts the spirit and tenderness that lingers. I unreservedly recommend Henry and Evaline to listeners who enjoy small-town stories with vintage charm, to readers who crave romance deeply rooted in faith, and to anyone longing for a story that will leave them smiling, encouraged, and grateful for the joy God writes into every love story.
