Taking your dog to a dog park is a great way to exercise and socialize your canine companion. Dog parks offer fresh air, open space, and freedom—a chance for your dog to be a dog. But not all dogs enjoy the experience and not all dog parks are safe for your dog.

Visiting the Dog Park gives you inside information on deciding if your dog is ready for a dog park outing, whether the design of the park makes for safe play, and teaches you simple things you can do to prepare for a great dog park experience.

As someone who has heard, “It’s Okay, He’s Friendly,” when he really wasn’t at all, I think this book should be read by any dog owner that is thinking about letting their dog play with other dogs, even outside of the dog park. This book has so much great information in one place! The dog park can be a great place, but it isn’t the right choice for every dog. There is great information here to help decide whether the dog park is right for you and your dog. This book includes important training to do beforehand to make your trip to the dog park more successful. There are descriptions of the three types of body language that signal trouble to help you recognize issues before things get out of control. Most importantly, this book fairly considers the downsides of visiting the dog park including dealing with problem behavior from humans and their pets and the spread of illnesses that can be transmitted at the dog park. This book is a must for any dog owner!
