With cities ruled by cultivators who wield qi to warp reality itself, and a vast wilderness teeming with deadly spirit beasts, mortals often find the first floor of the World Spire to be as punishing as it is extraordinary.

That's why, when Samantha unexpectedly receives a quest to become a cultivator herself from the mysterious System, she seizes the opportunity.

But she soon discovers that in the fearsome and unfamiliar landscape of cultivators, a single misstep could have dire consequences for both herself and her spirit bond, Silas, a Lunar Hare. With the safety of her loved ones on the line, and her options narrowing, Samantha must either commit to mastering their dangerous games or braving the deadly upper floors of the tower, from where no one has ever been heard from again...

She always knew that joining the ranks of cultivators would be a grueling ordeal, but she never would have guessed that leaving her mortality behind would be the easy part.

Great story. Liked how author avoided monotony with multiple storyline evolutions. Liked how the world building grew and was revealed over time without being predictable can’t wait fit next book (soon I hope)

This book was an undeniable gem. The writing, pacing, and world building were all very well done. I really enjoyed how was just the right amount of twists and turns while also having some sprinkles of predictability. I will be continuing on and recommend this story for anyone who is a fan of cultivation novels. My only note would be that our mc hits all the right breaks but that blow is softened because of the hard work and struggles she has to read off for those breaks. Please pick this book up

Thoroughly wonderful

Fantastic story by author Stephanie Benamati. Not only was it intriguing, it was engaging as well. Couldn’t put it down. Narrator Katharine Chin did an amazing job giving voices to all the characters. Each one unique and memorable. As for the story itself, ever see a cultivator have a bad day? And that day leading to questionable decisions? That’s what Sam has to deal with, only problem is, she doesn’t knowingly make bad choices. Read it to find out what happens. It’s worth it. Love this! Loved following Sam’s journey, our strong yet thoughtful heroin. Incredibly detailed story line. Can’t wait for book 2

Enchanting, gripping story line

Good focus story on one MC pov and no jumping around to side characters. Focus on plot, story and growth. Not on romance that doesnt fit. Hope the next book doesnt try to force it in during a time with other priorities.

My only complaint is the last 10 hours. You know what's going to happen and are just waiting for it. Something that should take 2 hours and get a good bit of after it is stretched out into 10 hours. Then makes it the big final event that ends the book. Annoying because it felt like fluff that could have been 2 and gotten so much more story into the first book.

Good marketing to get readers needing book 2 , horrible for readers that just want a little bit more story.

Mostly fun
