The author, Stan Paregien, has had an interest in Jim Shoulders’ career for many years. He actually interviewed Shoulders at the family home in Henryetta, OK., not once but twice (late 2006 and early 2007 – just 3 months before his death from heart issues). He finally wrote a very short biography of him in 2013 (an eBook, only).

This time around, he started from scratch and found out all he could about this man who won a phenomenal 16 World Champion Cowboy awards for his skill in riding rank bulls and saddle broncs and bareback broncs with attitudes. Stan also pulled together as many photos and related materials as he could find. This exciting and inspiring story is now available as a 6 x 9” hardback with 83 photos and 51 graphics (mostly in color) or an inexpensive paperback in black and white, or as an eBook mostly in color.

The end result is an insider view of rodeo cowboys – their dreams, fears, and lives inside and outside of the arena. There is also a good hard look at the rodeo business itself. In addition to many photos of Jim Shoulders, there are plenty of his wife, Sharon, and his children. Their son, Marvin Paul Shoulders, also won a World Championship Bull Riding title. Then are also photos and brief bios of many of the professional friends of Jim and Sharon Shoulders.
