What is the opposite of suffering? How do you open up to peace, calm, and love? Meditation is a way to let emotions go. Lisa continues the conversation today with Zen meditation teacher, author, and poet Henry Shukman. Henry developed more calmness and more clarity through studying different methods of meditation and talks about his new app “The Way.” It offers various methods to quiet the mind and become more aware. He talks about just coming back to sensations and being in the present moment. Henry further explains the difference between meditation and visualization. He talks about the nature of suffering and how to respond from a place of discernment and love. He also talks about mindfulness-based stress-reduction. He has learned various processes throughout his decades of practice. Henry’s new app, “The Way,” offers more than 30 free meditations which will teach a step-by-step process based on his years of experience. Henry is a poet and author who is the Spiritual Director emeritus of Mountain Cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His new book is “ORIGINAL LOVE: The Four Inns on the Path of Awakening.” He details his “coming home” amidst all the strife, including a head injury, and shares with readers how to find the intrinsic healing energy, peace, and joy that resides within all of us -- even when it feels hidden. He offers not a “one-size-fits-all” approach, but a way to find your own path to peace. This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: HenryShukman.com
