Featuring 90+ minutes of music from over 50 songs across Crack the Sky’s extensive catalog, this audiobook chronicles the emotionally tumultuous journey of Crack the Sky.

In 1975, this unknown band from Weirton, West Virginia SHOCKED the Baltimore music scene – becoming "The Beatles of Baltimore." Rolling Stone magazine deemed their first album "one of the year’s most impressive debuts." In 2015, they listed it as one of the "50 best prog albums of all time."

Yet, Baltimore's Beatles are nearly unknown everywhere else even as, 50 years later, they continue to create new music and sell out shows in their adoptive home. How does an out-of-town band hit it SO BIG in one limited market and remain a staple for half a century -- while being virtually unknown everywhere else?

Quirky, edgy, smart – like the band itself – this is the story of CRACK THE SKY.

Interesting behind-the scenes look and the evolution/successes, nuances of getting a band going and keeping it going. Lots of learning curves. Lots of fascinating tidbits about the business. The music is quite great, an extra treat.

The reading voice is rich and natural despite the multiple-voice interview structure. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Slice of band life, easy listen

If you don't know Crack The Sky, then you might not understand the enduring appeal of this book. They are one of the greatest rock bands you have never heard of. Their 1975 self-titled album won recognition and praise from Rolling Stone magazine for their creative, sophisticated music. Think of it as a blend of The Beatles + Pink Floyd + Steely Dan and you won't be too far off. But still it's hard to completely explain Crack The Sky because they are so unique. Now 50 years into their career, they are still rocking. There have been plenty of ups and downs, periods when the band was on hiatus, some members left, others joined. But the core still exists. If you want to understand the dynamics of a band "on the cusp" of making it, this book delivers, maybe better than any other rock biog ever. You've got great interviews with band members, producers and more. And the audio version includes fragments of some of their most famous songs, which really helps reinforce what makes them unique. Check it out and be sure also to get some of their albums.

Terrific book about an incredible rock band
