Cuddling with your bodyguard is normal—right?

Vana Dire can't show weakness if he wants to survive the Draskoran court. The only man he can be vulnerable with is Daromir—Vana's magic-bound bodyguard. The binding lets them share each other's pain, and Vana depends on Daromir's comfort as much as his services as a guard. Vana could never risk their friendship—even if he craves far more than Daromir's loyalty.

Daromir Azri sees a side of Vana nobody else sees. Behind closed doors, the cold, elegant prince is kindhearted and vulnerable. He needs Daromir. If Daromir's devotion sometimes feels like something else? Daromir must be mistaken. His duty comes first, and he'll do anything to protect Vana—including one thing he's never done before: He's keeping a secret.

Then, their magic bond changes. Suddenly, Vana and Daromir don't just share pain anymore. Each shared sensation pushes their friendship to the breaking point, just when Vana and Daromir need each other most. They're facing a mysterious ambassador, a chaos-stirring prince, the consequences of past schemes—And an assassin seeking Vana's life.

Prince and Bodyguard is a gay fantasy romance with pining, hurt/comfort, and codependent cuddling. The Perilous Courts series is best listened to in order, and Prince and Bodyguard begins a new three-book arc about the princes of Draskora.

This is definitely a series you’ll want to listen to in order—there’s a lot of interconnected worldbuilding that carries through each book.

This installment shifts to a new royal family in a much darker kingdom, which made it a bit harder for me to connect with the characters at first. Draskora is not exactly a welcoming place, and that tone really influences the story.

That said, once I got to know Prince Vana and his relationship with his bodyguard, Daromir, I found myself much more invested. I really enjoyed the contrast between Vana’s stoic public persona and the vulnerability he shows in private.

Their relationship develops into something very tender, and it ended up being the highlight of the book for me. I’m definitely interested in continuing the series to see where things go next.

A slower start, but a tender relationship

Audio reread: The John Solo & Kirt Graves' narration on this series continues to be great.

Loved it, maybe these narrations will cure my slump? Fingers crossed.

Tavia Lark, John Solo and Kirk Graves do it again! Vana is by far my favorite prince and Daro my favorite love interest. The story makes sense and the court politics continue on.

best one yet

Once again Tavia delivers with swoon worthy bloodguards, and a fierce but needy prince. Vana and Daromir are my new favorites. Their story is one of sacrafice, loyalty, and choosing your own happiness. I could not get enough of these two! So sweet they almost forgot to be spicy. The magic was good, the politics were intriguing. It was especially fun to start digging into the Draskoran side of things. I look forward to more! Plenty of hooks for the next two Princes and some nice scenes with previous ones. This has everything I've come to love about a Tavia novel, in just the right amounts!
John Solo and Kirt Graves continue to be the perfect pairing for the Perlious Courts series. I especially enjoyed this one as it had deeper voices for some of the characters. I look forward to the next two!

My favorite so far!
