All she ever wanted was a happily ever after…
Fate has never been kind to Gwendolyn Mary Darling Carlisle. For a brief moment, she was given a taste of the fairytale… and it was divine—until darkness descended upon Neverland.
Now, the island is ripe for the taking. An evil usurper, cloaked in black wings, seeks the realm for himself. He is ripping the Lost Boys apart from within. Debts are coming due, and a dark stain is seeping into Gwen's soul.
Every trial and tribulation pulls her further from the men she loves and the family she's desperate to hold onto. The throne of Neverland is up for grabs. Can she find the strength within herself to defeat the darkness? Will she don the crown and become Queen of the Lost Boys?

Also, Gwen just turned 18 in the beginning of the series. HOW is she that "experienced" and willing to let them stick it wherever they want?
And if I had to count the number of times the author wrote "heady" and "it was a heady mix," I think I would have landed at about 75. The authors have great ideas, but need to get a bit more creative in their descriptions (just change it up, don't repeat the same phrase over and over again) and maybe not list EVERY detail of EVERY sex scene. No one in real life is THAT horny. Gwen needs to calm TF down a bit and find some other hobbies.
I did love the Lost Boys, though. Eban is my absolute favorite, followed by Ryder and then Trip. Their backstories broke my heart, and I thought the authors did a great job of giving each of them attention in this book.
Great Plot, Too Much Smut

The story has amazing bones. The outline and world-building are solid, and it has all the potential to be an incredible retelling of Peter Pan. However, it falls into a common trap I’ve noticed in some adult reimaginings of classics: relying heavily on erotica to carry the narrative.
When the carnal tension becomes the focal point, there’s less pressure to develop the story, the characters, or their relationships to their full potential. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case here. The erotica elements didn’t enhance the story; instead, they felt unnecessary—like they were added simply to repackage a beloved classic as “spicy” or to cater to a niche audience.
The protagonist could have been an excellent character—a nuanced daughter of Wendy with her own arc and personality—but her promiscuity felt more like a gimmick than a meaningful trait. There’s a fine line between writing adult themes and using sex as a crutch to fill in gaps in storytelling, and this book leaned heavily into the latter.
That said, I want to give credit where it’s due. The structure of the series is strong, and the world-building is immersive. There’s genuine potential here, and it’s clear the authors had a vision. For readers who enjoy smut-heavy retellings, this might be the perfect read. But for me, it felt like a missed opportunity to explore deeper character development and a richer plot.
Ultimately, while I’m proud of myself for stepping outside my comfort zone and exploring new genres, this one just wasn’t for me. The erotic elements didn’t add value to the story, and I found myself wishing the authors had leaned more on their strengths—the vivid world-building and intriguing premise—instead of spicing things up unnecessarily.
If you’re looking for a retelling with strong foundations, Queen of the Lost Boys is worth a look. But if you prefer stories that don’t rely on smut to carry the plot, you might find yourself wishing it had delivered on its potential in other ways.
Would I continue reading similar books? Probably not. Did I enjoy parts of the story and the structure of the series as a whole? Absolutely.
I wish it had been developed
