Emotional coming of age romantic suspense!

Now this is exactly what I love about DL Lane. She just understands how to create a world and make me want to delve into it. Her Delta series is fantastic so far, packed full of interesting, realistic characters that have my heart invested in every decision they make. This novella has it all. We previously met Gabriel, aka Reaper in Cowboy's book, and I could tell he was going to be a great character. But the start of this story, had me wondering just how damaged he might be! He and his mother live with Lyric, as his mom is her nanny. Taking on the role of her protector from the time he was eight, the two were extremely close. Lyric looks up to "Real" as her playmate and later as a teen crush. But does he feel the same? It took til Lyric was a young adult to catch his eye as the beautiful woman she is becoming both inside and out. Well, things can never go as planned, and life takes a turn that neither of them see coming. The question is where will it leave them in the end? Brokenhearted, in constant danger and now with an ending that just leaves me wanting to hear the rest of their story! This coming of age book is the perfect beginning, and Lane has once again left me in awe. I am ready for more!

Eric Bryan Moore and MK Blackwood are our storytellers and what a story they tell! Moore takes on the role of Gabriel, from a child to a soldier. He nails the early years with a hint of an accent and later matures into the alpha male he truly is. A bit hardened and stoic, I can't wait to see where he takes this character. Blackwood is amazing as Lyric. She holds an awe for Gabe in her voice as a young child and slowly matures into the loving woman that she is. But she too carries a firmness that gives us an idea of what has happened and what is to come. These two make magic together and I can't wait to hear Reaper!

I loved it!

This novella is part of the Delta Security Series, a Romantic Suspense. Gabriel and Lyric's story is beautifully written, emotional, engaging, and suspenseful, filled with danger, and twists and turns. The supporting characters are great. The storyline is captivating. M.K. Blackwood and Eric Bryan Moore did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to more in the series!

A must listen

I was blown away by this book. Not only was the story well written, with wonderful characters, filled with emotions, but the narrator's are next level and give an amazing performance. I was hooked on Delta Security from the start and still am. I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Reaper, even more so now.

This was a fantastic prequel to Reaper’s story. A coming of age story and all the drama that follows these two will have you swooning one minute and crying the next.
Great beginning to what I’m certain will be another riveting story by D.L. Lane.
The narration was incredibly sexy and fun. Both M.K. Blackwood and Eric Bryan Moore absolutely nailed these characters and will leave you wanting more, so much more!! 😍😍
This is book 1.5 in this series and continues to book 2.
I highly recommend this book/series.

Great listen

Fantastic coming of age. MK Blackwood is rapidly becoming one of my favorite female narrators. She’s just so crystal clear and versatile. Adore her voice!

Absolutely Amazing

I was captivated from the start. And as usual, D.L. Lane took my on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I laughed, I cried, and I can't wait for Reaper. I'm rooting for Gabe and Lyric, and have a feeling getting to their happy ending will be another wild ride, but I'm ready! Bring it on!

The narrator's were just amazing, as was the story. If you haven't listened to this series, you need to!

Lyric and Gabe

In this book we learn how Lyric and Gabe came to get a couple. Gabe was always her protector and best friend. They grew up together. Gabe's mom was a mother figure to Lyric, not just her nanny. They always had each other's heart. Lyric sacrificed her love to keep Gabe safe which had them apart and devastated for ten years. This was emotional to hear. The narrators did a great job with the characters.

Wonderfully Compelling & Heartfelt! Fabulous Story & Narration🎧

D.L. Lane pens another fabulous novel set in her “Delta Security” series, a contemporary coming of age romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire book. This book is the beginning of Gabriel “Real” Romano and Lyric Whitfield’s story, a story that takes you through the years, starting with how they came into each other’s lives up to the present day. Gabriel aka Reaper was one of my favorite characters in “Cowboy” the first book of the series and I have looked forward to hearing his story. I knew his story was going to be something special and that first chapter “Monsters” hit me straight in the heart. Gabriel’s mom was Lyric’s live-in nanny, and despite being only eight years old, he became her protector. Lyric’s dad was too busy to pay her any mind, so his mom brought her up. She and Gabriel spent a lot of time together, which neither minded. Lyric idolized him and crushed on him, but he looked at her and treated her as if she was his younger sister. That is until she gets older and he sees her for the woman she has become. I loved watching these two grow into their own over the years and finally into the loving couple they were meant to be. Lyric is in college and Gabriel leaves college to join the Navy. Everything changes when someone from their past returns with a vengeance, someone and something neither saw coming. Threats are made and Lyric makes what she thinks is a lifesaving decision, a decision that alters their lives. And that ending, wow. Reapers team members at Delta Security have his back, but it is Tinsley who does the right thing and lets him know who was looking for him, but does he want to be found? The writing and plotting of this book is fantastic, as is the world building and character development. That ending leaves you wanting more and I am looking forward to finding out more about both Reaper and Lyric, and what is going on with Lyric. D.L. Lane, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

They understand who these characters are, giving each a voice that fits that character perfectly, accents and all, and are believable in every role they play. Moore nails it as Gabriel, from the younger years to the present, and Blackwood does the same for Lyric. They set the perfect tone for the story, capture all the characters’ emotions and have you feeling every single one. Their artistic talent and versatility truly shined in this book and their performance enhanced this already fantastic story to another level. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.
