Whitney Houston was a rare star. She burst onto the music scene like a supernova one might only see once in a million years. Despite a humble beginning, she rapidly rose to fame on the strength of her voice and unbeatable charisma.
Houston began her life singing in her hometown church in Newark, New Jersey, but ended up performing for the whole world to see. Her superstardom knew no bounds. In the middle of her career, however, drug use and a wild lifestyle took their toll. Many thought she was down for the count, but she would ultimately come back stronger than ever, producing one final masterpiece for the masses right before her life was tragically cut short.
