Publisher's summary

If the devil is knocking at your door, don't open it.

A simple enough rule to follow…or so you'd think.

When a criminal has magic too dangerous to merely lock up, we send them to a blackout prison. Hell would've been a better destination for this guy.

As a lowly cop in the LVMPD's Rapid Response unit, I'm used to dealing with all kinds of dumpster-fire scenarios. From drunk salamanders on a building-melting bender and angry manticore landlords threatening to eat tenants' gallbladders in lieu of payment, to human summoners calling up monsters from the deep to impress their girlfriends–to name a few.

But learning about the magic I shouldn't have while facing off against a psychopath who's worked me into his infernal plans for worldwide torment? That's decidedly outside my wheelhouse.

Oh, and my one and only fae friend is acting really strange.

I have to stop this devil from bringing hell to earth, but I'm petrified I'm going to help him pull it off instead.

Warning: This urban fantasy series contains danger, mayhem, humor, and heart, with characters you'll fall for–including a vampire with an unbeating heart of gold, a book-hoarding dragon who eats criminals for breakfast, a mysterious faerie who's as hot as the desert he slunk out of, and a human heroine who'll fight to save them all.

Includes Of Smoke and Sentiments: An Aurelis Bonus Scene.

As Amazing as the First Book!

Too many times, I’ve been horribly let down by the sequel of a book, but this one has proven that sequels can be just as enticing as the original. After the events of the first book, we were left wondering what was in store in this world where magic isn’t a secret and dragons are more than just majestic creatures who breathe fire. Vampires can indeed make the most incredible parents, and family isn’t always the one you’re born into. Fae aren’t all stoic and unblinking creatures who trick you into horrible situations. I’ve been wonderfully surprised and entertained by these books so far and can only hope (and pray) that this is just the beginning of an enthralling series! (So here I’ll be, waiting with baited breath until the next book comes out).

Too Dark

Loved book 1, the characters, the world, the writing style, just didn't love the story. The beginning is great and then it's just torture of characters for about 20 chapters. I was looking for a fun, action packed, fantasy, mystery. There is definitely action and fantasy but no fun or mystery. Honestly only writing the review as the content and length of it were just a shock and if this review gives you pause you may want to give this one a miss.

Hooked up

Like the idea, can’t wait to see where it takes us. Like the world building, MCs, sidekicks and slow simmering of romance. And it’s only book one. Definitely recommend.

Good start to series

The 2nd book is a good start to the series. We are learning more about the characters as the story progresses. More about subplots too, and the story is getting bigger. There is the slow burn love interest for those who like a little romance. The bigger suspense of what she is and developing into…and the dragons! And Gods…I thought they were all gone, but maybe not. So I’ll read (listen) on

Love & War

I loved the characters in this story. The dragon is my favorite, but Ronin comes second. Please don't tell the dragon I don't remember how to spell her name, she might find me and use her sharp wit on me.
